| The Willmar boys went to Augustana and put up a battle but came up a little short to crew from Yankton, South Dakota. Despite missing their #3 runner, the Willmar Cardinals took second place at the meet led by Mahad Hassan in first and Andrew Nicklawsky in fourth. A very strong team from Yankton won the meet with a score of 42 to Willmar's 79. Yankton was led by third place finisher Brad Anderson. This was the first year that Willmar has been out to Augustana and it hasn't been above 80 degrees and sunny. With great conditions the top four runners all beat the course record of Abdi Awale (senior on Willmar's '06 team) of 17:06.24. Willmar's next meet is scheduled for Thursday the 13th at Hutchinson where they will get to go up against a young, but strong Hutchinson squad. Results for Augustana meet. | The Willmar girls ran extremely well at the Augustana meet. Missing 4 of the top 9 from the Moorhead meet from last week due to injury/sickness, the Cardinals still placed 6th and were 17 points out of 3rd place. The Cardinals were led by Jackie Johnson who placed 12th in a time of 16:44. A strong Yankton, HL#1/US#24 squad took home the meet with a score of 29 and placing 5 runners in the top 11. The girls next meet is at Hutchinson on thursday where they will get a taste of section competition from marshall and mankato east and conference action from sartell.
