2006 Willmar Invitational Results

On a nice sunny, but slightly breezy day, the Willmar Cross Country team hosted there annual home meet.  This year proved to be another amazing year on a very scenic and spectator-friendly course.  In total there were 7 teams that competed in today's meet.  On the boys side, the MN #1 Willmar boys swept the first 5 places for a perfect score of 15 to dominate the MN #6 Moorhead boys who had 47.  Abdi Awale came in first in 16:07, shattering last year's mark of 16:44.  Mustafa Yusuf came in second, followed by Kaaf, MOhammed and Mahad.  Andrew Nicklawsky finished 10th, Scott Boros finished 12th and Zac Coquyt finished 18th to round out the varsity lineup.  On the girls side, the Willmar girls placed second with a score of 79.  The Spuds of Moorhead scored a total of 19.  Willmar was led by Jackie Johnson in 10th (17:04), Danielle Erickson in 12th (17:13) and Emily Ellingson in 13th (17:15).  Britta Pederson in 21st and Vanessa Engelmann in 23rd rounded out the top 5 scorers for the team.  Carlie Freese and Brin Hanson finished 30th and 31st respectively. Willmar's next meet is at the Meet of Champions on October 7th in Alexandria.
