Guardian Dragons

Dragons' Flight - The Red Dragon by Alisa Simonoff

As some of you have already guessed I believe dragons to be entities upon the astral plane and I have astral compainions who watch over and guide me in the form of dragons. I will refer to these creatures as dragons as opposed to energies this time because mine are as real to me as the nose on my face. As always, each is entitled to their own view.

Guardian dragons come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, they are usually quite small in size, at least much, much smaller than other dragons but this is not always the case. They come in all colours too, the sheer smallness and colour variety of these diminutive guardians seems to point to the possibility that these dragons are youngsters; serving what could be called an apprenticeship in the broadest sense of the word, with them learning from us and about us while we learn from and about them. Dragons age very slowly, thus the dragon’s juvenile stage in life could last for a century or more, which, although it is more than a life time to us, is a fairly short period of time for these long-lived dragons

While guardian dragons are serving this sort of apprenticeship by working with humans, they are going through what you could say is their time of ‘schooling’, of learning about humans and strengthening their individual powers, and as with schools of all types, these little guardians are supervised by one or more older dragons, you may or may not see these ‘teachers’. This supervision is for the safety of the little ones, as well as for your own protection. Guardian dragons can get quite energetic at times.

Even though the powers of these little dragons are not as potent, or as focused as those of older and larger dragons, they can help with protection; friendship; love; divination such as tarot, runes or scrying; the development of psychic abilities; dancing; singing; and rituals in general.

Having a guardian or guardians frim the draconic realms has very distinct advantages. They become very protective of you if you are friends with me, as ‘Dragon’ did with me many years ago. These guardians could be described as being astral watchdogs up to a certain extent of both you and your property. In this day and age with its ever rising crime rates, a spellweaver, or indeed anyone, is foolish not to take advantage of any help offered in the protection of oneself, family and property. With guardian dragons, there is no cleaning up involved; they feed off of your love and created energy. They are invisible, at least they are to the senses of most people. However they can, and indeed do make disturbing noises, uncomfortable vibrational feelings, and in some cases actual appearances to those whom they feel might cause their friends harm or distress in any form whatsoever.

Most guardian dragons are quite playful as I have found out for my self. One of mine delights in playing with my various dreadlock hair pieces when they are hanging up on the door knobs of my wardrobe. When describing a dragon you can use he or she interchangeably because it is so very hard to distinguish between the two genders unless of course they tell you themselves.

Guardians are friendly and fun loving, and love to take part in rituals, enjoying simple impromptu rituals which include singing, drumming, dancing and general fun. Simple and very relaxed rituals like these are a great way for adults to unwind and release pent up stress. They are attracted to dragon's blood, ginger and other sweet-smelling and spicy incenses and oils. They seem to have a great interest in divination because whenever I consult my runes, scrying ball or tarot I always hear a little voice whispering in my ear wanting to know what I can see and then I hear that same little voice tell me what their opinion on the spread is. My little guardians also enjoy the stories and poems I write especially the ones where I’ve included dragons, and they enjoy the ones where dragons are portrayed as friends with other beings and are portrayed as being powerful and not defeated by weedy mortal characters more than the others. Their favourites of these dragon characters I have created seem to be an ancient silver dragon named Aurax and a greeny-gold cheeky juvenile dragon one by the name of Hwest, but that is for another time and place.
