So it was 1979. Any of you remember 1979? Jimmy Carter, gas shortages and whatnot… Anyway, I was three so I do not remember much. My sister Kathleen was just a few months old and My Aunt Marie and Uncle Dan took me to the circus to get me out of the house. The three of us sat near the top of the bleacher. It was a pretty exciting night with clowns and elephants and everything else that goes along with the circus. Back then I was not as big and I am now so I stoop up to get a better view or it all. I lost my footing and slipped through the bleacher. My bottom lip got caught and ripped ¾ of the way off. There was an ambulance on hand, which rushed me to the hospital. However, on the way there the ambulance ran out of gas. I remember lying in the back of the ambulance, with my lip dangling and having to wait for another ambulance being sent to come and get me That was the point in my life that I realized that my life would be a little bit different than most. I use that story as a type on intro into my life. It is light and humorous (now,) but I think it really sets the pace of what follows. |
