The puppet show wone the 1999-2000 Brightest Idea award for being one of the most outstanding AmeriCorps programs in the state of New Jersey. Pretty exciting stuff, ehh?
All the charactures in At the Refuge are named after charactures from the movie Hudson Hawk (1991). (Including Bunny the White Tailed deer, who is named after Bunny the dog.)
The show oppening with Anna singing by herself on the refuge is set to parallel the oppening sceene in The Muppet Movie (1979) where Kermit is sitting by himself in a swamp singing to himself.
The velociraptor is in the show because one day I over heard a couple of refuge biologist talking about how there were raptors out on the wildlife drive, and could not help but think of Jurassic Park (1993).
