Dawn is staying at Willow's the night after her mother's funeral . Tara is there two and togther she and Willow try to take Dawn mind off her loss. Dawn is distraught though and tells them that she wants to try and do a spell to bring Joyce back from the dead. Tara immediately puts a stop to it, saying that, although the spells to do that do exist, they are terribly dangerous and nearly always go badly wrong. Dawn is crushed
The next morning, Willow and Tara are going out to breakfast. They wake Dawn beforehand, asking if she wants to go too. She declines. As they go, Willow magickcally pulls a book out for Dawn to look at, "The History Of Witchcraft". Using this book, Dawn discovers how to resurrect her mother. In the end she doesn't go through with it, as Buffy stops her. When notices that the book is missing, Willow lies to her about how Dawn might have got hold of it,, the first time we have seen her lie to her girlfriend.
