Wil Ripley - Writing Writing is a trip. It is much more work than one might think. I try to draw on the experiences in my life and that usually works for me. There have been times when it has pissed some people off, hit a little close to home and hurt some feelings. Truth is truth no matter which side you view it from and fiction is fiction no matter how familiar a particular passage. To those folks I say "don't take things so personal. If it was about you and you alone it would have your name on it." An article I wrote during the winter of 2004, published in Hearts With Soul, I call Defining Love. My first book took me many years to write. Cold Warrior is a fictional account of what life was like for a US Army Soldier on the ground in West Germany during the Cold War days. The main charactor also moonlights as a professional musician. (Where'd I get that from?). Like I have said, it is fiction. Not all of those funny and crazy things actually happened to me personally in those days. Many of them happened all around me and were just too good to leave out of the story. It needs a major edit and overhaul. HeatWave. is a story about life on the road with a band and the passions, the wild times that increase in intensity during a record heat wave that burns central Europe for an entire summer. Heat Wave needs a lot of work yet, mainly editing and typing. Coming Clean is a psychological love story about a man battling alcoholism who falls in love with a woman who suffers from manic depression, (bipolar disorder). I have a good bit of it published on this site for those of you who would like to sample it. Writers is about a group of people who are, you guessed it,... writers. They are eight completely different characters from different social backgrounds, all ages and personality types who meet a couple times each week to talk shop and deal with their individual quirks and problems in life. It is light hearted and funny, yet reveals the condition of most modern humans and their vulnerabilities at the same time. This work is not finished and will need a lot of editing. Wild Women is a brand new piece of work that I have only just begun to put together. The idea and the approach to the concept of living and managing relationships was just too much fun for me to pass up as a story line. I know, the idea is old, but I have three wives from three different countries on three different continents, with I don't know how many girlfriends and affairs along the way, and the approach is fresh. I am truly having a lot of fun working on this one! If I can ever find the time to get these works ready, I mean all the way ready, I want to pick the best one and try the Self Publishing route. Finding a real publisher as a new writer can be very difficult to say the least. Even the Music business is easier. If you are a publisher, and it is a slow day for you, check me out!
