I know the pain, the sense of violation, of 'being dirty or bad', and so many of the other problems that people may suffer from and that may be related to sexual abuse as a child. I know people with so many of these problems, some from abuse as a young child; some from abuse as a teen; and they are both males and females.
So I have put together lists of 'symptoms' that may be related to sexual abuse, in childhood or even from being raped as an adult. I have also included a few other tidbits that I thought relevant.
To put how often sexual abuse occurs in perspective, consider the following statistics. Studies show that you will find that a MINIMUM of 10% of men or women were sexually abused before the age of 18 in the United States. Most studies set the rate at closer to 20%. And a few studies, usually with more 'inclusive' definitions of what sexual abuse is, have found rates as high as 33%.
