Introductory Remarks
In General
The enfolding of force and form usually leads to matter in clearly defined categories of expression. Sometimes, however, the enfolding results in imperfectly constituted and unstable categorues if expression. The synchronous folds lack stability and are weakly fixed in their expression. Even though these folds are sufficient to give rise to matter, the resulting matter lacks coherence and stability.
The Synchronous Folds of the Enfolding Universe both anticipate and explain the nature and behavior of comets. Comets are nebulous celestrial bodies that revolve around the Sun. A comet, which in latin is termed stella cometa, or"hairy star," has a long, luminous tail that is manifested only in that segment of the comet`s orbit when it passes closest to the Sun. Until 1577, comets were regarded as atmospheric phenomena, and in that year Tycho Brahe proved that they were celestrial bodies. In the 17th century Isaac Newton established that the movements of comets are subject to the same laws that govern the planets in their orbits.
The British Astronomer Edmund Halley demonstrated that the comet of 1682 was identical with the two that had appeared in 1607 and 1531, and he successfully predicted the return of the comet in 1759. Halley`s comet has now been identified with records dating from 240 BC and mostlikely with records of a bright comet in 466 BC.
In those parts of its orbit farthest from the Sun, the comet`s appearance is that of a small sharp nucleus enbedded in a nebulous disk termed the coma. According to one theory proposed by the American astronomer Lawrence Whipple in 1949, the nucleus that contains nearly all the mass of the comet is a "snowball" conglomerate of ice and Earth-type dusk. The snowball theory is said to rest upon various data, such as the nature of the observed gases and meteoric particles that are ejected to provide the coma and tail of the comet. It is also believed that the snowball theory is supported by the fact that the best-observed comets move in orbits that deviate significantly from gravitational motion under Newtonian theory.
Most scientists believe that as a comet approaches the Sun the solar heat evaporates or melts the ice, causing the comet to get brighter and to develop a brilliant tail. In point of fact, comets generally get larger and not smaller as they approach the Sun. As a comet recedes from the Sun, the comet may shrink in size and its tail disappear. Some scientists paradoxically believe that a comet approaching the Sun shrinks as a result of evaporation of the snowball and a receding comet also shrinks, even though its rate of shrinkage decreases because of a decline in the loss of gas and accompanying dust. Actually the comet`s rate of increase in size decreases as a result of its decrease in the gathering in of matter arising from centrifugal forces as the comet recedes from the Sun.
Their Periods and Orbits
The orbits of comets are elliptical, with the periods of about 200 comets, which is the time they take to orbit once the Sun, having been calculated. These periods range from 3.3 years for Encke`s comet to 2000 years for Donat`s comet of 1858. Most comets have vast orbits, making them indistinguishable from parabolas, but most astronomers believe, based upon analyses that the orbits are elliptical, of considerable eccentricity, with orbits that might take 40,000 years to revolve around the Sun.
In order to understood the underlying factors that give rise to the phenomena of comets, it is necessary to understood the interplay between contrifugal forces leading to the expansion of our observable universe and contripetal forces leading to its concurrent contraction. Matter is concurrently being originated and extinquished at the same time. The phenomenolgy of comets originate as a part of contrifugal, originating and expansive forces. Our seque is one that has a center that is contripetal, with matter moving to its point of extinction. However, within our galaxy, there are movements going to and from numerous points of origination and extinction, even though matter at its center is going to a point of extinction. In other galaxies, the center might be a point of origination, with matter going from that point of origination outward.
The interplay of centrifugal and centripetal active forces, even though not matter, may give rise to matter. Scientists usually explain the tails of comets by the presupposition of solar winds that blow molecules away from the comet. The tails, however, are evidence that the interplay of active forces lead to the formation of radiant energy.
No detailed theory as to the origin of comets is generally accepted by scientists. Many scientists believe, however, that comets were orginated in the outer and colder part of the solar system during its early days, using residual planetary matter. Under the Enfolding Universe, the manifestation of comets would be anticpated as a result of the fact that centrifugal forces held together by centripetal forces would necessarily cause matter to enter into elliptical paths revolving around the Sun, a center of centripetal forces that would not capture the comet whose centrifugal nature would be repelled by the Sun`s centriptel point of extinction.
Comets are not formed from residual matter at all but were and are still being formed by the interplay between points of origination and extinction that participate in the formation of more evolved patterns of manifestations. As a result of this interplay, and the balancing of forces, comets would necessarily enter into elliptical orbits around points of origination or extinction, with comets in our solar system revolving around the Sun as a complex center of points of extinction.
The views of Dr. McCanney (see his book Planet X, Comets and Earth Changes, available from Borders bookstores) are similar to conclusions reached under the Enfolding Universe, although they differ substantially in their theoretical bases. Dr. McCanney believe that comets do not have to hit the Earth directly to cause huge solar flares that would detrimentally affect the planet Earth. The extremely high temperatures of comets in the Enfolding Universe would be a result from highly concentrated centifugal forces giving rise to the comet, with the concentration of such forces generating heat.
The observation of the Hale-Bopp comet that passed the Earth in 1996 verified the conclusions that the universe is an enfolding one as well as the views of Dr. McCanney. Hale-Bopp was found to increase in size as it approach the Sun, and a probe sent to the comet found no ice at all. A comet would increase in size under the Enfolding Universe as it approached the Sun for the reason it would gather in matter arising from centrifugal forces in the vicinity of the Sun that are being repelled by the Sun, an highly concentrated manifestation of centripetal forces. As the comet increases in size, its "tail" that manifests increasing centrifugal and outward motion necessarily also increases in size. A better name for a comet`s tail would be a comet`s headboard.
