Upcoming Plans
4/30/05
In our past couple meetings we have continued to discuss doing a skit at Cider Mill.  Stef and Kim went down to Cider Mill and it was decided that we'll present it to one of the houses as a test run for this year, and if all goes well then we'll continue doing it in the upcomming years.  We'll be presenting durring what would be there recess so it's about 20 minutes for about 120 kids.  These are the plans we came up with
-Short introduction saying we're from Y2Y (1 minute)
-"Be an individual" skit (2 mins)
   -posible 2 other skits (TBA)
-Introduce ourselves and the program and how they can get involves next year (in middlebrook) (3 mins)
-Ask them about what they thought the skits were about (question and answer 5 mins)
-Invite then to join us with their parents at the Teen Center for a "real y2y meeting"... really it's a dinner where we can talk to the parents and play games with the kids to get them involved.

The dinner will be about an hour long so we can talk to the parents about the program while the kids are eating, just letting them know what we're all about, then switching so the partents can eat and playing games and activities (and maybe doning more skits) with the kids to catch their intrest.  We will be sending a flyer home with the kids in their parent folders to make sure that the parents get the message.

4/5/05
For those who were not at the meeting this is a summery of what happened.  A detailed discription was sent out via e-mail, so i'll go over the highlights:
-We discussed ordering personalized livestrong bracelets to sell to our peers and the 5th graders with an inspirational saying on it promoting healthy lifestyles.
-We talked about going down to Cider Mill to talk to the kids and maybe put on a skit about Youth to Youth and our drug free message.  We will try to talk to them in their classesrooms as well and sell them the braclets.
-We thought about planning a dinner for the 5th graders and inviting them and thier parents to learn about youth to youth to get rid of any misconceptions and explain what the braclets represent.  We'll be planing activities for the kids and talking to the parents sepratly so we can explain the program and hopfully get them involved in the Middlebrook program next year.
-While we have decided not to be involved with Relay for life this year to focus on these other goals, we hoping to plan a retreat for the weekend of the 4th in June to wrap up the year.
