Driving is only half the fun |
July 6th I started work on my private pilots licence. I'm almost done as of oct 30th. Just need to do a couple cross country flights, and write my exam :) It's been a blast, so far I've been stuck flying the absolutly sedated Cesna 152. Mind you I do have a bit of time in Montairs Aerobat. Man is that thing a PITA to move around in. Full 5 point harness in a diminuitive 152 is majorly restrictive, Hope like mad you don't drop your headset or pen! ANyways.. I've been flying the following 152's GMAX GQRR(in the background) Me-----> but most of my time is in : GZBB GZBB--------> Girlfriends father has two Homebuilt kitplanes a Murphy rebel and a renegade.. I've been up in the rebel a bunch of times.. AWESOME power to weight ratio. Julius topping up the tanks at Fort Langley -->> 160hp in a 700lb plane... It climbs like MAD.. two of us and full tanks and it'll easily pull over 2000ft a minute! takeoff roll is under 400ft and landing can be done in about the same. Needless to it makes my 500ft hard stop in a 152 look sad. You can check Montair out here. They not only do instructing and flights during the summer to scheduled destinations but they also do an awesome charter service.. Their plane of choice is another incredible performer.. the pilatus PC12. BTW- My father is an Airbus 340 first officer. If only I could fly that :) |
