The 2002 outing was our our 5th to Traverse City.  Like last year it was on the weekend before the cherry festival.  There was only four of us this year, Mary, Rick, Don and myself.  Alex was planning on being there, but his plans changed from getting there late to not at all.

Brought a 35mm camera, but kept forgetting to bring it on the rides, so no new
photos.  We miss John and his digital.

6/28/2002 Arrive Traverse City State Park, set up camp.

Traffic on the way up was OK, just a little slow trough the Tri-City area due to
construction.  Got the same camp site as the last couple of years, so set-up was quick
     and easy.

6/29/2002 Ride the Sand Lakes trail system.

Don and I meet Mary and Rick for breakfast at the local BK, then trucked the bikes
out to Sand Lakes.  Had a good ride, only saw one other biker, and a few campsites.

After the ride, went back to the campsite, got cleaned up, and drove into town and
checked out a few of the local bike shops.

Later, picked up Mary and Rick, and had dinner at Sleder's.  (good food)

6/30/2002 Ride the Leeanau trail to Suttons Bay and return.

Don and I had breakfast a McD, and got the call from Alex, that he was not going
to be able to make it.

Meet Mary and Rick at the campsite, and started the EPIC ride  The morning was
Ok, made several stops, and didn't get to Suttons Bay till early afternoon.  Since it
was Sunday, our favorite Deli was closed, so we stopped by the local market, and
they were able to make up some sandwiches.  We also re-stocked up on liquid
refreshments.  Had lunch in the park overlooking the bay.  The ride back was long
and HOT, made lots of stops to cool off.  95+ Deg.

7/01/2002 Break camp, ride the VASA, clean up, then return home.

Rick and Mary did the short trail at VASA.  Don't know where they found the
energy.  Don and I broke camp Sunday night, and were home by morning.
