TALK IT OUT
(Nori Kelley)

So fighting got ‘em through another day
And now he’s saying that he’s going away
The evening’s quiet and clear
And everybody can hear
Out of the windows and into the night
It doesn’t matter now who’s wrong or right
It seemed so hard to resist
But is there something they’ve missed?

Can’t we talk it out?
There’s no reason to leave me
Can’t we talk it out?
We can make it, believe me
Every time I look into your angry eyes
I just want to say
That words are really not enough to say goodbye
I just want you to stay
Can’t we talk it out?

Sometimes I really don’t know what to do
Then I remember I’m committed to you
I know we both are aware
Deep down the love is still there
So now why don’t we choose to just forgive
It the only way we’re ever really going to live (together)
Communication’s a must
A deeper level of trust

Can’t we talk it out?
There’s no reason to leave me
Can’t we talk it out?
We can make it, believe me
Can’t we talk it out?

Tell me what you’re feeling
I wanna tell you what I’m feeling, too
Let’s clear the air, we’ve got better things to do...

Can’t we talk it out?
There’s no reason to leave me
Can’t we talk it out?
We can make it, believe me
Every time I look into your hungry heart
I just want to say
You know it’s not too late to make a brand new start
I just want you to stay
Can’t we talk it out?

I actually wrote this a long time ago, pre-Barbie. I was just thinking about married couples who give up when times get difficult, never having learned to communicate.

Musical influences were Aimee Mann / Til Tuesday & The Beatles.
