To Oak Ridge : from Interstate I-40 W / I-75 N (a combined highway in Knoxville ):

Take exit 376A (Hwy 162N) towards Oak Ridge . 162N is a 4-lane divided highway with a speed limit of 55. Just before entering Oak Ridge , Hwy 162 will merge with Hwy 62 and will be marked as Hwy 62 (this is through Solway, you’d best hit 45 mph at the flashing yellow lighted speed limit sign and stay that speed through Oak Ridge !)

Follow Hwy 62 ( Illinois Ave ) through Oak Ridge . Hwy 62 will intersect with the Oak Ridge Turnpike (Hwy 95 / 4 lanes) at approximately N 35* 59' 42.4", W 084* 17' 19.7".

Take exit 122, the Clinton / Oak Ridge exit and turn right / west on Hwy 61W towards Clinton . Approx N 36* 09' 57.7", W 084* 05' 01.7"

Go about 15.8 miles, through Clinton and into Oak Ridge (Hwy 61W will become Hwy 95, stay straight / westbound on Hwy 95). Going through the City of Oak Ridge , look for the intersection of Hwy 62 at Hwy 95, 15.8 miles from I-75. Turn Right on Hwy 62W towards Oliver Springs . Approx. N 35* 59' 42.4", W 084* 17' 19.7".

When Hwy 58N meets Hwy 95N, continue on 95N towards Oak Ridge , going to the intersection of Hwy 95 and 62W (14.4 miles from I-40). Turn left on to Hwy 62W. Approx N. 35* 59' 42.4", W 084* 17' 19.7".

To the Windrock Campground from Oak Ridge :

Once you find Oak Ridge , Tennessee , you head West on Hwy 62 towards Oliver Springs . Just after leaving Oak Ridge , Hwy 62 will join Hwy 61 and it will be marked as both Hwy 62W and Hwy 61W.

Stay on Hwy 61W/62W into Oliver Springs . You will pass a Pizza Hut and cross a set of railroad tracks, then pass a Hardee's on your right. These are the last restaurants and gas stations you will pass before heading into the mountains. This is also a good area to get whatever food ( Food City ) and gas you will need if you have not already done so.

After passing Hardee's, go through the traffic light (4.4 miles from Hwy 95 and 62) in front of Food City, and go 4 tenths of a mile. Turn right on the ramp towards beautiful “Downtown” Oliver Springs . The exit sign to downtown is at approximately N 36* 02' 26.9", W 084* 2'0 10.0".

Go under the overpass and at the 4-way STOP sign, turn right at approx. N 36* 02' 42.3", W 084* 20' 11.1".

Go 6 tenths of a mile and you will cross a set railroad tracks that will jolt you pretty good so take it easy. Then it is almost 1 mile to Hwy 330. Turn left on Hwy 330 at N 36* 02' 50.6", W 084* 18' 48.0".

About 1 mile from the turn onto Hwy 330, turn left on Hoskins Gap Road - the first road on the left. There you will cross a concrete bridge (N 36* 03' 33.0" W 084* 18' 15.9") and bear left. Go ½ mile; be slow and careful on the small bridge. It is 10 feet 8 inches wide, so even the motor homes will be ok (watch for rear view mirror clearance!).

Then another ½ mile to the campground on the right. N 36* 03' 44.5", W 084* 18' 56.6".

Directions to Windrock ORV Trailhead Area from the Campground

Turn right on Hoskins Gap Road out of the campground and you will come to Windrock Trail #2 about 1.5 miles up the road. The parking lot at the foot of Windrock Mountain is about 2 miles from the campground.

Please keep your speed down because you are in a residential area on a VERY narrow winding gravel road. 100 hits since April 9, 2003
