| These are merely suggestions from a local 4x4 enthusiast to give you a better idea of what you will see on each trail. I have only address the 4x4 trails. | ||||||
| Trail 2 - This is an easy dirt access road from the base of the mountain to the east side of the area. Any stock vehicle can make it up trail two. There are several optional fun hill climbs on the way to G1. Trail 16 splits off of trail two mid way up the mountain. Trail 3 - This is more difficult/ fun when run west to east or clock wise. There are several water/ mud holes that are over 38? deep so be careful and test the hole before you venture in At the east end there is a difficult long hill climb out with a 1 ½ ledge/ stump that is continuing to grow and will probably require winching on. At least 1 winch per group will make sure everyone get through the trail. Trail 4 - Is a scenic trail with some tall water bars. Mild lift or 1 limited slip should conquer this trail. Trail 5 - This trail also has some gullies and water bars to flex vehicles up on. A stock vehicle should be able to negotiate around the more difficultly gullies. Trail 6 - This gravel road has washed out to make it rather challenging to a open vehicles. Several wet rocky sections will might require a tug. 1 Locker or LSD should make the trail a fun scenic ride. Trail 7 - A steep power line cut that has a very difficult 2 1/2 ft ledge in an ugly off camber position. Vehicles locked ft and rear with 35s have rolled off. The trees should catch you Be very careful while attempting this climb. Open vehicle can try but may not make it very far. Trail 11 - Gravel/ mud road with some scenic coal mine remains. Open and or stock vehicles should not have any trouble. Trail 13 - Is a fun easy/med trail. This trail has lots of water crossing. There is one creek crossing that may require 1 locker if run west to east if run east to west a stock vehicle should be ok Several of the water crossing are 20+ ?s deep. Trail 14 - Very steep and Difficult . Fun to look at but be very careful if you try the climb. Must be locked Ft and Rear. After you get past the first climb the rest is a fun steep climb back up to P1. I would NOT recommend going down this trail run it north to south. Trail 15 - If you can get past the first ledge there at the gravel road you are good to go. The step is the worst obstacle in this trail stay right to get to the bottom of rattle rock and to the mud flats. Or bear left to got to Little Mule steep down hill decent in to a rock bed then up a muddy rocky climb. 1 and 1/32 lockers and or winch recommended. Much more Difficult if wet. Trail 16 - Fun long trail mostly run west to east. Long clay hills both Up and down. Lots of small rocks in trail. If its dry 1 LSD should be able to get through West to East. If wet will probably need a winch. If dry east to west with 1 locker if wet east to west 2 locker ands plenty of winch. Narrow trail with out a lot of cut outs for passing be prepared to back up to let another pass Or go around you. Trail 23 - Difficult best run west to east or clock wise good long steep hill climb over a ridge, Lost of loose rock and 3 good step to climb over. Then a VERY steep decent. If wet I would advise running east to west but will still be dangerous ad would advise against it. Trail 26 - Easy open stock can make it with one long slow speed small bolder field with Trail 27 - no idea Trail 35 - Big Mt hollow easy stock 4x4 should make it if its dry if wet will be slick with clay hill climbs. Trail 36 - Culvert trail If dry open vehicles will have a little trouble with some of the ruts, there is 1 steep hill climb and 1 small 1 ft ledge fun but doable. If wet easer to run from north to south then to trail36 . |
