What is the Windsor Guardsmen Alumni Site?
1978
Through the years Guardsmen went their own ways. Some maintained their Drum Corps love and others didn't, but one thing for sure, we all have the memories.
1988
Every time you were lucky to meet a Guardsmen from the past you could not help but talk about the good ol' days.
One day in 2004, three of us got together for drinks just to catch up on old times. As you would figure, the conversation went straight to Drum Corps memories.
The feelings were unanimous. Would it not be great to get the gang back together to share these feelings? So we started monthly meetings. Mostly to drink, and talk about a reunion.
2004
This web site was our first attempt to contact all alums. Next thing you know people were coming out of the woodwork and confirmed that there was a strong interest in a reunion.
....we picked a date. May 13th, 2006.
Holy crap! This is going to happen. Now the meetings were more structured and less an excuse to drink. (all though we still did)
Here is where reality hit us..... people were making airline reservations and scheduling their vacations to attend this reunion.
2005
We had to form a committee to help with finding alums, booking a hall, food, entertainment, memrobelia, name tags, posters, hotels, agendas and much more.
The support group was formed (to list a few): Beth Martin, Don Robitaille, Mike Seguin, Jamie Mitchell, Ward Meunier, Joe Aquilina.
Dave had his history site linked to ours and ours linked to his. The list of names started to grow, and grow.
We had to book a bigger hall. It looks like we will have over 60 people attending.
The reunion finally was upon us and over 100 people showed up.
2006
Most agreed that it was long awaited and well deserved by all. We met our old friends and made new ones. Many wanted to stay in touch and asked is this site would stay active so we can communicate even after the reunion has come and gone.
After receiving a letter from Mr. Robitaille about how he was touched by the reunion it brought a lump in our throat and we felt that we needed to share that feeling with everyone.
We set our sights in creating a custom limited Guardsmen Alumni pin that was sent out to all registered Alums along with a special holiday card. "Wear it with pride".
The site became a place for friends to leave guest book entries. We only ask that you sign your name to any post you leave and keep it fun. Afterall, we are Guardsmen, we have respect towards others.
2007
Stats: We must be doing something right.....over 10,000 hits in 2 years. We currently average 25 hits a day and on weekends we peak at over 40 hits. In February 2007 we had over 700 hits. Not everyone leaves a message but they do read them. If it didn't work we wouldn't be doing this.
There are no rules as to what you want to leave as a post. It is a guest book for you to say what ever you like to the rest of us. This is your voice to the rest of us. Say what you like.
Our web site mission statement:
To compile and maintain a list of alums for the reasons of keeping in touch as well as helping to organizing functions and to promote a positive respectful atitude amongst all.
A moment in time....memories for ever.

P.S. We appologise if the guest book fills up some times or if we forget to update the alumni list.
This is not a full time job for us. We try hard to maintain it but we do slip up some times.
