Lulu works in elementary schools with her partner, Susan Olson. One of her two literacy programs,  "Lulu's Book Group" (c2003), is a five-session classroom program designed to motivate writing and reading with children in grades 1-3. Lulu's program, "Lulu's Dog Safety and Literacy Program" is a 3-session dog bite prevention program conducted in grades 1-3 with Susan and Dr. Ruth Colwill (Animal Behaviorist/Brown University). Through class activities and a book written in Lulu's voice, children are provided information about dog behavior and ways to avoid being bitten by a dog. In both programs Lulu's presence in the classrooms, and her attention to all students, inspires writing, motivates learning and encourages respect and care. Lulu has worked since 2003 in school systems in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She also has given presentations about pet assisted literacy in conferences and meetings.
