| She was surrounded by darkness and was terrified. Clothed in rags and reduced into a helpless weak little girl. Covered in dirt and tears the only thing she could do was curl up on the ground and weep as the shadows covered her and ate away at her soul. She only fought for a few seconds as she trashed about in a pathetic attempt to push them away. The shadows sunk into her body and then left when finished, leaving her lifeless and hollow inside while her body was physically untouched. The eyes looked up into the dark sky lifelessly. The moon reflected in her blue eyes. Her heart thumped sending blood through her veins but her brain was dead and her body was.. soulless. It was his entire fault. ~*~ "Noooo!!!" He screamed into the darkness of the bedroom. Sweat dripped down Shamein's face as his breath became rapid. His chest heaved with each intake of air causing his wounds to ache. He cursed himself for not knowing any healing magic. His dream disturbed him. The image of her bright blued eyes haunted him every time he blinked. The girl was Raven. He wanted to help her but all he could do was watch in horror as the shadows took her and killed her slowly. Then again, why did he want to help her? He was supposed to kill her. Then why was the only thing he wanted to do was protect her? Then again, it didn't matter what he felt. He had to kill her; she was in his way of completing what the voices wanted. She was in his way of being free from the voices and the shadows. If it meant being free of the voices that have been haunting him all his life and forcing him to do their dirty work, then he didn't care if it meant he had to kill millions to do so. The voices in fact were all his ancestors sharing the same thoughts. The only ancestor missing was Dark Wizard which even his own family didn't know his real name. The voices wanted to resurrect him and by doing so would grant Shamein's freedom and the Dark Wizard would then have all Shamein's power. Not like Shamein cared if all his powers were stripped, he just wanted to be free. "She's coming.." The voices his in his ear making him jump. He looked at the portable clock lying on the floor and it was nearly 3pm. A rap on his door announced Raven's arrival. "Shit!!" He hissed as he leapt off the mattress and towards the pile of semi-clean clothes, turning the light on as he went. Hastily he got a white shirt and blue jeans on, skipping the socks and shoes. As he made his way to the door he tried not to think of how dirty and disgusting the floor felt under his bare feet. It almost felt as if some form of moss was growing from the rotting floor. He quickly opened the door, a little too quickly which startled Raven. He smiled at her sweetly. This added to her nervousness and also added to Shamein's amusement. Shamein led her in like a gentleman though the smile on his face turned from sweet to devilish as she passed him. He knew her eyes were searching for her bag. A part of him knew this was a perfect opportunity to kill her. Another part of him wanted to make her into something dark, like himself, he wanted her to be a princess of darkness so he could be her prince and they could turn the world to the shadows together. The other part though, wanted to keep her as she was, wanted to hold her and grant all the wishes he found scribbled in her notebook. Mostly he wanted her to understand him like no one else ever had. It was easy to pretend to be someone else but for once he wanted someone to know who he really was. What better person to tell everything about yourself than your supposedly worst enemy? Yes it was a very bad idea to let her to get to know him but that didn't stop him from wanting her to know him inside out. "Where's my backpack?" She sternly looked at him but the moment he locked his eyes onto hers her defenses broke down and she looked away not able to fight him in anyway. "It's over here." He nodded his head in the direction of his room and strode over to it. Raven followed cautiously. The backpack was in the corner of the room and Shamein picked it up to hand to Raven. She took the bag unsure if she could even trust him to give it to her without some sort of trick. He knew it was purely because she was afraid of him and how helpless she was if he were to attack. His dream flicked in his head as their hands touched momentarily when she took the bag by the strap Shamein was holding. This shook Shamein and he quickly withdrew his hand to the safety behind his back. Raven didn't seem to notice and was relieved to get her precious backpack back. They walked back to the main room where the front door was. Raven quickly headed to the door wanting to get away from him as a soon as possible. The only thing that stopped her from getting to the door was Shamein's strong firm grip on her shoulder. She turned to face him trying to look strong but his eyes melted her till she could only look weakly at him. The look in his eyes was dead serious and hollow of emotion. "Next time we meet I will have to kill you." He said the words even though he was unsure of them, unsure if he could actually do it. His words forced her body to straighten and she matched his stare. "I know you will, but why not now?" Her eyes dared him to answer. He looked at her and thought of the smartest reply as he could. Taking a step closer to her he whispered devilishly in her ear. "Do you want me to kill you now? Or do you have something else you want to do in mind?" It was fun to play with her mind. Her breath became rapid as he took another step closer to her. His cheek brushed hers taking in her scent through his nose. "Like roses.." He breathed. Before he knew it his hands that were once holding her shoulders and keeping her from running away were now moving up and down her arms as their bodies pressed together. Raven held her eyes shut and her fists tight and her jaw clenched. His lips were in front of hers now; his breathe caressing her lips causing her jaw to tremble. She was fighting him and he had to admit it was noble of her since he knew she had a crush on him. Raven's body began to relax after a few minutes as he held her there, she opened her eyes and he smiled at her. Her blue eyes on her pale face made her beautiful and he found himself attracted to her. He then forgot all about playing mind tricks on her and only thought of how beautifully soft her lips looked. Her eyes went half closed as he tilted his head closer to hers. "KILL HER!!!!!!!!!" The voices shouted in his ears just before their lips touched. The shock of how loud and harsh the voices sounded made him stumble back. He pushed Raven away causing her to bag into the door of the apartment. "KILL HER!!! KILL HER NOW!!" He covered his ears even though it was no use. "Are you alright?" Raven's voice spoke softly through the violent sounding voices. Her voice was like a song bird compared to the shouting going on in his head. He kneeled on the floor as the voices continued to shout in his head. "If you won't kill her then we will!!!" His head began to throb with a splitting headache as his head touched the moist moss-like floor. He knew they were summoning the shadow walkers through him like they always did when he refused to do it himself. It wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. He felt a cold slender hand touch his shoulder gently. "Shamein?" Raven's voice was trembling a bit like she was worried. Worried about him, nobody was ever worried about him. No one cared enough to worry about him. But she was worried about him. She was the only person who cared enough to worry. She was the only one to ever care. Shamein knew the voices wouldn't stop till he killed her, but how could he? He looked up to her trying to hold back the pain. Her eyes were filled with fear for him and confusion as to what was happening. She was as beautiful as an elf could be. He knew he couldn't kill her but he also knew what would happen if she stayed any longer. "Please get out of here now if you don't want to die." His voice pleaded to her. She stumbled back to her feet and ran to the door only glancing back when she opened to door. Her eyes were full of fear and worry. Whether it was worry for him or her own life he couldn't tell, but he could tell she wanted to help him take away whatever was hurting him and he wished more than anything that she could take the pain away. After she was gone he let the pain absorb him. The lights flickered out and he felt himself going slowly unconscious. The portal to the shadow realm opened inside of him and the shadow walkers immediately came through it into the human realm. They made their way out of his body causing him more pain than what he was already in. He gasped unable to scream as he felt them rip out of his body one at a time. Even though this happened many times before, he could never get used to the pain that ran through his body. When they were all out they left his apartment in search of Raven. Shamein only hoped Raven would keep herself in a lighted place. |
