Midwest Showcase of Sickness

Rube's; February 23,2002

The show started at 1 p.m. and I was planning on getting there early to save a few bucks but do to car trouble I didn't get there until about 4. So, I missed In Pieces and Gorespawn. When I got there Rellik just started to play. These guys play fast, war inspired, death metal. They sounded pretty good. Here are a few pictures of them in action.

Enmortem played next and I thought they were boring. So, I decided to head into the bar instead. Then Bound & Gagged played some brutal, gore metal. It was their first live show and they were good. Two of the members are from Reprobation, so if you like them, then odds are your going to like Bound & Gagged. Here are some pics of them.

I left to get some food and missed Dyscrasia and got back in time to see some of Screaming Afterbirth's set. They sounded better than the first time I saw them. After them, Reprobation came out and played a bunch of new material that will be on their new CD. They were really good.

Up next were those Sicking(©darkwave)dudes from Disinter. They kicked fucking ass tonight! They played a nice mixture of new songs and old songs and did a nice cover of "Show No Mercy."

Then it was time for headliners Fleshgrind playing their first all ages show in almost two years in the Chicagoland area. They were fucking awesome! Personal highlights from their set was when they played: "Holy Pedophile", "Ejaculate on Entrails", and "Anger" from their 1993 demo. My camera's batteries died on me so I didn't get any pics from their set. Next time I will bring extra set of batteries with me. Overall, it was a fun day of metal. Stayed around for a little while after the show. Had fun hanging out with and talking to: Melanie,Rebecca;Chuck,Shawn,Rob from Reprobation;Mike and Zion from Disinter;Matt from Corpsevomit;Rich from Fleshgrind.
