Updates Continued
Next was air filters.. He asked if we owned any & I told him yes my Aunt gave us 2. One for our bed room & the other is a huge unit in the living room.. But with the windows open I hadn't had them on because it was pointless. But winter is coming.. He suggested a Q Air Filter System?? Whatever that is.. Something for the furnace I know.. So I passed on that info to Gary. Then we discussed a humidity gage & dehumidifiers in the basement. I told him we had one my Dad got us & he had me describe our basement to him. He thinks we need 2 down there.. So Gary thinks we have another one.. Who knows it might be on by now.. Gary's doing all of that. I don't go down stairs.. Stairs are BAD!!! We talked about "the rock room" for those of you who have never been in our basement.. We have one room at the bottom of the stairs that we call the rock room & we do so because it's gravel.. The guy we bought this house from had apparently tried to give the water a place to go when it rained it leaked.. But when Gary bought the house he fixed it correctly & it doesn't leak any more.. A few times we have had a little but nothing worth messing with. (or so I thought) Dr Wong strongly suggested getting all the rock & dirt out of there with wheel barrows & buckets.. He guessed that for sure there would be mold growing like crazy there. Again.. It's all about time & money. Because we would have to replace that with concrete. I'm sure we will get there.. It's just baby steps.. Gary only has so many hours in a day & Gary was kind of fussy when I told him all of this.. Snapped at me that when was Doctor Wong going to trade him check books.. So he didn't mean to but he made me feel bad.. I didn't mean to get sick & I certainly didn't think my icky basement would be messing with me.. & besides with out doing the test we don't even know.. anyway... Last thing I can remember & from going over my notes from Tuesday. was Cleaning supplies.. He said I need to switch to non toxic, non aerosol & all natural products.. He suggested a company called Seventh Generation and another one brought to my attention was Eco Sense/Melaleuca. I knew not to use any aerosols & I haven't.. I am not here when the house is cleaned (which isn't often.. LOL) so I am trying.. It's just very hard to make such life changing alterations.. So there is your update.. Please continue to pray.. I have been feeling better but the cough is still hurting me pretty bad.. I get tired very easy, but I guess that would be my blood not my lungs... I will let you know about my upcoming test when I know something myself.. Thanks for reading & caring about us.. Windy

A totally awesome gal from our church heard me speak on my medical update at church & called me at home, asking if she could have our permission to make some calls on our behalf to try to get some business’ to donate some time & materials to help with the doctor’s suggestions on cleaning up the house & getting it checked out.. Well in making some calls Brandy made arrangements for Missman (a local inspection company) to come do a complete mold inspection: and the best part is they donated their time & services. They couldn’t however donate the lab’s time, so Brandi called them too & they agree to cut the cost of running the test significantly. So the test took about 4 hours to do. The lady who came was so sweet, her name was Jennifer. She went in almost every room & took samples. She made some recommendations to me (& Vicki a friend of mine was here too) and she said she would send everything off to the lab & she’s type up a report as soon as she had the results. So we wait. Brandy also called an air purification company & they donated a 1300$ unit to us.. I cried I was so excited & just blessed!!! It’s a Guardian Plus & very big.. It hooks up to the furnace & central air unit & goes threw out the house. (It’s not hooked up yet, but sitting in my office waiting) Isn’t God Awesome!!!!!!!

My doctor had made arrangements for me to receive 2 units of blood. My counts are just dangerously low & they need a boost. I will be again having blood drawn every 2 week & be watched closely. So with the blood transfusion I feel great, a little wheezy but wow, to have energy & be able to stay awake for a while is awesome. I just pray it holds up & I don’t’ need any more, my veins are shot.

Mold results are in & all I can say is WOW! I was floored when I read this report. They tested for 30 types of mold, and we tested positive for 9 of them. And here I listed them for you all.
Ascospores
Basidiospores
Cladosporium
Epicoccum
Oidium
Penicillium/Aspergillus
Pithomyces
& Stachybotrys (commonly knows as Black Mold)
In Jennifer’s report her recommendations were very close to Dr. Wong’s & they are in agreement on most.
1. All carpets must go. (they have all been removed except Jake & Levi’s bedroom so far)
2. Use air scrubbers, get air purification unites installed & running 24/7.
3. Use 2 dehumidifiers in basement at all time & seasons.
4. Professionally clean all air ducts & air returns.
5. Gut & rebuild the following rooms:
The bath room in my office (walls, floors, ceiling, everything.)
The dining room (everything)
At least 3 walls in the upstairs bathroom. (we will do all 4)
6. In the basement under the office, remove all gravel, dig out dirt, and pour concrete, air scrubber, bleach, seal, and paint. The floor joist for my office is the ceiling in this room, they all have to be replaced too.
7. Fix any & all gutters & drain spouts that are either missing or leak. Must keep the moisture away from the house. I’m sure I’m forgetting bunches, but you get the point that it’s LOTS!
I can assure you these projects have all been started & it’s very stressful.. But were dealing just fine so far. I feel so bad for my husband, I love him so much & I will never be able to repay him for the awesome way he takes care of me. I’ll try to keep you updated best I can.. I have taken lots of pictures & will be adding a “Picture” link to the main page so you can all see the progress Gary’s making on our home. We have been in contact with our life insurance company. We are going to try to take an advance on mine, Gary’s looking at 30,000$ So please pray for us that we get it. With out it Yes the house will still be fixed proper, but it will take lots longer, as we just don’t have this kind of money lying around. But God is good & He will find a way. Well.... The Good The Bad & The Ugly. The verdicts in.. Not the answer we were wanting but its ok.. As you all know we were in the process of trying to take out an advance on my life insurance so Gary would have the money to fix the house & make the repairs necessary for my health.. Well got the word today that we are not going to be able to get any advance at this time. So that's the bad.
The Good is... because my Doctor feels that over the past 6 weeks my lungs have shown a significant improvement. Letter states that I have a progressive disease and with out transplant yes I will die. But in his best estimate he gave me 2 years now. (way better then I had, so it's all good) Added that with transplant I'd have several years of life. So what is Great for me was not so much for the insurance company. As far as Gary & I understand they were needing the letter to say 12 months or less. And as I have stated I am doing much better.. Yes I have good days & bad days (ok, a few days at a time) but I still don't feel I am going to die any time soon. Gary & I had been praying lots for this... If it was meant to be then we would get it. We felt like we needed to stress we didn't want any exaggeration and only the facts. (which we have been very careful about over the past year) Because in the end we still have to stand before God for our actions. So I made that comment to my doctor that he just needed to give the insurance company his best guesstiment & so there you have it. They are still working on my blood problems & watching my lungs close. I go back to the doctor in less then 2 weeks & I have another big test day with a bronch on the 26th. So we will see.
Now I bet your wondering what the ugly is right?? My house is the answer.. Now that we wont be getting the advance I don't have a clue where the money will come from to do the repairs we need done.. My doctor thinks we should just sell the house & get me out of it asap.. (must be nice to be able to think with out even hesitation of money) Well that is not an option that we can take. My husband assures me we will be fine & for me not to worry.. Kind of hard when I live here & my house is making me sick. So Please continue to pray for us as we now have to come up with a new game plan. My house is tore up, messy, dusty & all that, but... Gary is going to continue working on what he can & when he can. God is still in charge & He is still has a plan!!!!!!
