The Good News comes through the words of
today's Gospel passage. Jesus is shown as the person who can bring us out of our living deaths. He has the power to save us from living sad, little lives filled with nothing but desperation and fear. I hope you can see how dramatic and utterly hopeful today's Gospel really is. It's telling us that when we are caught up with fear and doubt, when we are wondering how we are going to get through another day, when we think that everything we cherished has been lost, the Risen Jesus is there with gifts of hope and courage, with peace and forgiveness.
New life, unending life, a life filled with peace and courage, a life without fear, a life worth living -- these are all images and descriptions of our life that come out of Jesus rising from the dead. When Jesus wished his followers the gift of peace, he just wasn't saying something like, "Good evening,
