Giving Up Judgement
There are few things more dangerous in life than judging other people. This is so because we just don't have the ability to make such judgements.  We only see the outside of a person. God alone sees the heart. This tendency to judge others is one that most of us have to fight against.  As soon as I make a judgement about you, I have put up a wall. I have started the negative process of separation. Instead of growing closer to you in love, I take a step back. I either weaken or destroy our relationship. And as people who are called to love one another, any unnecessary step back from another, is a step in the wrong direction. Judgements put up walls between people.

If you take a moment to think about your own experience of judging another person, you will quickly recognize that the same thing happened to you. Your judgement didn't bear any positive fruit. It just pushed you further away from your wife or husband, friend or neighbour. In fact, if you persisted in holding your negative opinion of the other, you just continued building the wall between you, adding one brick of judgement upon the other. In some cases, the wall got so high that you found yourself completely cut off from the person whom you were judging. So many relationships wither and die because of this kind of behaviour. This is so because these kinds of judgements leave no room for understanding. They close the door to any real dialogue between persons so that the two end up in either shouting matches or just sullen silence. Neither option is loving.

Peace,  Father John

Vocation Views
Each tree is known by its fruit.  What are the gifts and talents the Lord has given me?  How is God asking me to use them? ( Luke 6: 39-45)
Today we focus on the wider understanding of vocation – the call to life; the call to be Christian, and the call to be Church or the body of Christ in the world.  All are called to “holiness” - loving as Christ loved.
Where do you rejoice at seeing people responding to these "calls" in their lives?
