FUT  SAO (BUDDHA HAND)
WING CHUN KUEN
What is Fut Sao Wing Chun?
HISTORY
Fut Sao is a martial system of self defense and personal development. It's original name was Gu Yee Chuan (Ancient Chivalrous Fist) but was renamed to Fut Sao Wing Chun Kuen by Grand Master Henry Leung in honor of his teacher Gao Jhi Fut Sau (Nine Finger Buddha Hand). Fut Sao Wing Chun Kuen is an inner gate system that was initially taught only to inner circle, high level priests, and encompasses internal & external, soft & hard, physical, mental & spiritual disciplines.
LINEAGE
What makes Fut Sao Wing Chun different from other styles of Wing Chun?
Fut Sao ( Buddha Hand ) Wing Chun Kuen is internally based utilizing body linkage, torque power, Hei / Nei gung breathing. Fut Sao also contains Siu Baat Gua (eight direction footwork) which utilizes body evasion, stealth movements, and circular hand & foot techniques. In short Fut Sao is a highly developed and evolved system of Wing Chun.
CURRICULUM
ARTICLES
Can you give a specific example on how it differs ?
Most Wing Chun styles have one wooden dummy form that contains approximately108 movements. Fut Sao has four different dummy forms, not including the weapon dummy forms of which there are three. The basic form has substantially more than 108 movements, and these movements are not repetitions of previous movements as each section emphasizes and developes specific techniques and abilities. The four forms are:
CLASSES
1. Standard Dummy Form.
2. Sliding Dummy Form.
3. Stake Dummy Form (standing & turning).
4. Low Horse Dummy Form.
[ Weapon Dummy Form: pole, knives, fan ]
INTERVIEW WITH SIFU JAMES CAMA
It sounds as though Fut Sao is a complex and difficult system to learn.
It would be more accurate to say that Fut Sao is a sophisticated and comprehensive system to learn. Fut Sao is a complete  system, nothing is held back or glossed over. It is designed to train an individual to a very high level. Achieving a high level of expertise in any discipline requires hard work, very hard work. Fut Sao is no different and may not be for everyone, but anyone can learn it if they are willing to put forth the effort.
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
This system sounds interesting, where can I find some books or videos on it?
Fut Sao would be difficult to learn from books or videos. One must get a feel for this system by experiencing the movements and "touching hands" with someone who knows. Besides Fut Sao has not been openly taught and was a closed system until recently, hence there is very little if anything documenting this rare and abstruse style.
