Iran's Religious Beliefs
The Muslims believe that there was only one god who created all things.  He created the Islam belief as a way of life.   Muslims also believe that Adam, the first man to walk the earth, was the first one to believe in only one god, and therefore the very first Muslim.  Islam means "submission" and "being at peace".  The Islam god's name is Allah.   Muslim's believe that if you worship Allah, and are a Muslim, you are at peace, with god, yourself, and your other fellow Muslims.  Also if you are a good Muslim, you will follow the teachings of your elder Muslims and the Qur'an.  The Qur'an is the holy bible that the Muslims believe in.
Muslims also believe in the holy prophet Mahammad.  Mahammad was called the "Prophet of Islam" because he was the last prophet to have the Qur'an revealed to him. By following the Qur'an and its teachings, the Muslim people know what is expected of them by Allah.  Also it is said that if they follow the teachings in their Qur'an it is said that they will enter paradise when they pass.   Also hter are other faiths beside the Muslim.  The non-muslim people make about one percent of the Iranian population.  Generally the people are free to practice whatever religion they would like.  Just so long as they are respectful to the Islamic people and to their faith and their beliefs.
Islams have not always been this organized in religion.  Back in 1978 demonstrations agains government occured in the capital of Iran, Tehran and many other cities.  They did not like what the Islams were doing and how they were practicing.  Later that September, the Islam Shah imposed the martial laws which protect Muslims for being descriminated against in their own country.
Also Muslims pray 5 times a day.  They pray for Allah their god, and Mahammad their prophet.  Their houses must be facing the Mosques which is there holy church in which they pray from their Qur'an, or the Muslim bible.
An Iranian mosque.  This is where Muslims go to pray.  They pray 5 times each day.
