As I mentioned, I
started this page quite some time ago as an outlet for my
creativity in rubber stamp art and all things paper and ink.
I've been stamping about 12 years now, the last 8 of them seriously. I stopped counting how many stamps I own about 5 years ago when I reach over 800. I'm really loathing to count them right now coz I know I should catalogue them too, I think that's a mammoth "holiday at home" project!!
Over the past 4 years or so I have had some of my projects published in Stamping and Papercraft Magazine and also Australian Paper Arts Magazine. I've worked at many a craft shows demoing and meeting lots of my fellow rubber stamp artists and friends. The best thing I did about 6 years ago was join an online Yahoo group called OzStampers. If you want to make new, close and long lasting friends, this is a group to be a member of.
I am also a member of a stamping group in Sydney that meets once a month called Stamping and Friends. This is also one of the best moves I've made in a long time. I've been a member for coming into my 3 year now and have been to their last 2 stamp camps that are held each October. What a blast. And what a way to learn new techniques, share ideas and generally have the best fun ever!
I live in the north west of Sydney. We have been in our little Hovel for the past five years. We bought it more for the large block of land which in Sydney these days is like looking for hen's teeth. We took about 4 years, but completely renovated the house inside and out. In fact, it's doesn't look anything like the absolute dump we bought. Which is just as well coz it was not very family friendly or livable!!!
We got asked why we didn't build new. Well to tell you the truth, I felt buying an older house and doing it up was better than being put/stuck in the middle of a new estate with no established trees etc. Plus, most of the display homes we looked at just did not look like a "home". They were nearly all 2 stories, brick box shaped things with no eaves and not fitting in very well with the look I love about old Australian homes. These big brick bagged cement things are just plain ugly plonked in Aussie bush areas or suburbia. No offence if you have one, but just not our cup of tea!
Even though it was hard work renovating, it was worth it coz of our big back garden. Prior to buying our house were were in several different Navy homes, because of course, my hubby was a Sailor (for 21 years but that's another story isn't it!)
My hubby and I have one son who turned 13 in November 2004. We love going boating and yes we have our own boat that sees us out on Sydney harbour many weekends thoughout the good weather days of the year. We love to go fishing and snorkelling too. It's amazing what you can see under Sydney Harbour, and no we've not seen any sharks (yet!). We are very cautious about where we snorkel.
I currently work part time for a government organisation in health care. I left the Aged Care Agency I was working for for 4 years in early 2004. My new job would have to be the ideal job for a paper crafter like me coz I'm home by 2pm each day, yipee!!
As you can see by my photo above, I have cut my once very long hair, many years ago. That photo is rather old, I'm a little 'chunkier' now, but have recently got my hair almost the same as this again.
This photo below, was taken early in 2004 whilst we were out on our boat, see, I haven't changed that much I recon.
