About TWAS |
![]() |
TWAS aims to promote an interest in all aspects of aviation and its related activities. We want to encourage young people on the Wirral to consider taking an active part in aviation, both as a prospective career and an interesting leisure activity. |
TWAS meets on the first Sunday of every month at the 'Roundel Club' in Alton Road, Oxton, Birkenhead, from 7:30pm. Members can watch & listen to slide presentation-lectures on aircraft etc, etc. by aviation professionals or gifted enthusiasts. We also have an aviation quiz league and annual plastic model aircraft making and photographic competitions. TWAS also has an extensive aviation video and book library available to members & Air Training Corps Squadrons/schools |

Members have been on private visits to most of the major RAF bases and we have seen the Eurofighter Typhoon being built at Warton. We have also inspected the RJ production line at Woodford. The international travel section within TWAS have arranged very reasonably |
priced flights to the major airports of Zurich and Amsterdam . UK airports and aircraft museums have also been covered and our tours are very relaxed and informal. Don't forget to bring your airband radio! |
Our membership covers all age groups and you will be assured a warm welcome because we do not discriminate against age, gender or any physical impairment. So why not come along one evening and join up! Current membership costs £8 per year and includes four issues of our own magazine, AV-GAS. There is a charge at our monthly meetings towards room hire (members - £2, non-members - £2.50). The club has a secure off-road car park. So come along, join and enjoy yourself! Who knows - next time it might be you climbing onto a Hawk! |
