SENATOR GEORGE ALLEN, MARK EARLEY, JAY KATZEN TO BE IN BIG STONE GAP FOR LUNCH THURSDAY Wise – Senator George Allen is scheduled to speak at a lunch in Big Stone Gap at noon on Thursday, August 9, 2001, at Stringer’s Restaurant. Senator Allen, a first-term US Senator, is traveling Virginia this week, and will join what is expected to be a large crowd for lunch from noon to 2:00 p.m. Also joining Allen are Republican Gubernatorial nominee Mark Earley and Lieutenant Governor candidate Jay Katzen. Earley spent time in Wise just last week as he unveiled his proposed transportation plan for the Commonwealth. He also viewed the proposed Coalfield Expressway during his visit. Katzen, who has served several terms in the General Assembly, was nominated by acclimation to run for Lieutenant Governor on the GOP ticket. This is the first of several planned visits to Wise County by Katzen. The public is welcome
to attend the event, which is a dutch-treat lunch. The Media is also
encouraged to attend. Earley and Katzen will be available to answer
questions.
