COUNTY REPUBLICANS NOMINATE CANDIDATES FOR WISE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Wise – The Wise County Republican Party held its mass meeting last night at the Courthouse in Wise, and selected the Party’s nominees for Board of Supervisors in each of the four electoral districts. In electoral District One, the GOP nominated Appalachia resident Lee Stidham. Stidham, a well-known local citizen and former Appalachia High School athlete, hopes to help bring balance to the Board of Supervisors by serving the town of Appalachia. “We’re excited to have Lee running on our ticket,” said Party Chairman Chad Dotson, a Norton attorney. “He’s a great candidate, and we feel like Appalachia deserves representation on the Board. Lee can provide that.” The local Republicans nominated County Supervisor Robert “Bob” Adkins to run for re-election to his seat in District Two. Adkins has served one term already, and was met with enthusiastic applause when he revealed his intentions to run again. “Bob has done a superb job on the Board during his term,” said Dotson. “We expect more great things out of him during his second stint on the Board.” In District Three, the Party re-nominated current Supervisor Virginia Meador, who indicated her desire to seek re-election. Said Dotson: “I’m glad that Virginia wanted to run again. She’s a wonderful candidate, and she has served the County extremely well during her time on the Board of Supervisors.” Finally, the GOP nominated retired schoolteacher Robby Robbins for Supervisor in District Four. “We couldn’t have asked for a much better candidate than Robby,” said Chairman Dotson. “He is well-known in that district, from Wise to St. Paul to Coeburn, and he’s well-liked. I expect great things from Robby Robbins.” The local Republicans
were enthusiastic in their support for this year’s slate of candidates.
“It makes me proud to see everyone so excited,” said Dotson. “I think
we all feel like we have four great candidates, and we expect to win all
four seats this year.”
