Chapter 2

"So, who can name one person who freed the slaves and how?" Mrs. Lorenta asked. Lisa raised her hand.
"Yes, Lisa." Mrs. Lorenta pointed at the young punk.
"Harriet Tubman led slves from plantations to the north by way of the Underground Railroad, a trail for runaway slaves." the rocker answered.
"Very good, Lisa. I'm glad you know a lot about your culture." Mrs. Lorenta said. Lisa flashed a smile and sat back.
Lezard was writing something down so he missed the whole thing. When Mrs. Lorenta wasn't looking, he passed the peice of paper back to Lenneth, who sat one seat behind him. Lenneth took it and read it to herself.

Dear Lenneth,
   Your boyfriend is a liar
   Unfaithful as can be
Keep him if you want to
But you can always come to me
                             Forever yours
                                    Lezard Valeth

Lenneth bit her pink glossed lip and refolded the peice of paper, putting it in her purse. Lisa pursed her lips together and tried to stiffle her laughter. But she slipped. So did Lezard.
"Is there something you two would like to share?" Mrs. Lorneta asked.
"No ma'am." the two answered in unison.

After school, most of the students went their seprate ways. Lenneth and Freya were on there way to gymnastics practice when Lenneth showed Freya the note/poem. After reading it, Freya busted out laughing.
"Lezard wrote this?" Freya asked in a fit of giggles.
"Yeah." Lenneth answered grimly. Freya calmed down a passed the note back to Lenneth.
"So, what do you think he meant about being unfaithful?" the young blonde asked. Lenneth shrugged and walked inside the studio where practice was being held

"What was on that note you gave to 'princess'?" Lisa asked, tuning her pink bass guitar
"Nothing, just stuff." Lezard answered, messing with his black electric guitar. Lisa smirked and shook her head. Her friend was truly a trip.
"Hey, who do you think Lucian's taking to the prom?" Lisa asked. Lezard got an impish gleam in his eyes.
"Twenty dollars says it's Platina." he said.
"You're on." Lisa replied and shook Lezard's hand.

The day ended somewhat ueventfully. Lenneth was lying in her room, still sore from practice. And to add to that her little sister, Silmeria, was sitting on her lap reading her doujinshi and, due to the coming storm, she wasn't leaving. It was only a few weeks until prom and Lenneth's mom was taking her and her sister shopping. She had another sister, too, but Hrist was in college. Lenneth was taken away from her thoughts when Silmeria tapped her on the tummy.
"Can you braid my hair like yours?" the young girl asked. Lenneth nodded and began to part her hair. 'What if Lezard asks me first?' the older girl thought
