In other Christian Churches, the term is more specifically used for one who wishes to attain clergyhood. • Adbertos - Literally means "sacrifice" and was part of the Celtic religious and community world-view. Rather than the negative connotation given to its English counterpart, adbertos was a positive idea denoting the giving to others, to the clan, and to the larger community as well as the deities. The Celts saw the giving or receiving of sacrifice as being inherent in every living moment. This is a very old word which came to the British Isles and Brittany from Celtic Gual. • Adept - An individual who through serious study and accomplishments is considered highly proficient in a particular magickal system. A person who is very skilled in some form of Magick. • Adonis - Greek; consort of Aphrodite, also another name for Lord. In Phoenician his counterpart is Astarte. A vegetation God. Roman counterpart is Venus. • Aer - Wales. Goddess of war and revenge. Goddess of the River Dee. • Aeromancy - Divination by the stars. • Age Of Aquarius - The Great Year division that is believed to begin sometime between 1999 and 2068. The Age of Aquarius is predicted to be characterized by humanism as opposed to religious dogma. • Age Of Pisces - Pisces is just one of many Ages in the Correlian calendar of Zodiacal Ages. All the characteristics that we know of as most prominent in the astrological sign of Pisces are also prominently represented in the events taking place during the Piscean Age. The Age of Pisces has just ended as its span went from 400 to 1999 AD. The Age we are just beginning is the Age of Aquarius. • Agnosticism - is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims — particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of gods, ghosts, or even ultimate reality — is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently impossible to prove or disprove. • Aine - Ireland. They can be reached through the 19 Keyes or 49 Calls. Also known as Aethers, Aethyrs. • Airts, The - The Scottish Gaelic term meaning, "wind". Identified with the four winds North, South, West and East Winds. • Air Signs - The zodiac signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are associated with the element Air. • Aisling - Ireland: Dream or Vision. In the many Irish tales having this title, the person who dreams sees a speir-bhean or vision-woman from the Otherworlds, pronounced "ash-leen". |
