I

I died for beauty, but was scarce
adjusted to the tomb,
when one who died for truth was lain
in an adjoining room.

He questioned softly why i failed?
"for beauty," I replied.
"and I for truth,--the two are one;
we brethren are," he said.

and so, as kinsmen met a night,
we talked between the rooms,
until the moss had reached our lips,
and covered up our names.

Our paths have been laid out, since our conception. The detours we encounter along the way, only strengthen us. We can either accept, our destiny, or we can take part in it. Form it, watch it nurture and grow.
Mystic Shadows

There are gains for all our losses,
there are balms for all our pain:
But when youth, the dream, departs,
It takes something from our hearts,
And it never comes again.

We are stranger, and are better,
Under manhood's sterner reign:
Still we feel that something sweet
Followed youth, with flying feet,
And will never come again.

Something beautiful is vanished,
And we sigh for it in vain:
We behold it everywhere,
On the earth, and in the air,
But it never comes again.
