Cancer, the mother sign representing country and home, is the most productive of all the signs. Scorpio ranks next and Pisces third. These are the feminine, fruitful, watery signs. Taurus, Capricorn, and Libra are in the second group. They are semi-fruitful and fair for planting. Taurus is very good for potatoes and root crops. Libra produces vigorous pulp growth and roots and a reasonable amount of grain. Also very good for flowers. Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Aries are masculine, fiery, air signs and tend to barrenness. Sagittarius is used for onions and seeding of hay. Aquarius good for cultivating. Gemini, Leo, and Virgo, all considered non-productive and barren, are the best signs for grubbing and destroying noxious growths, especially between the 1st and 20th of August, September, February, or June. Gemini, is used for string beans and cucumbers. Always do your harvesting near the full moon and when it is in the airy signs of Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius. The fiery signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are next best. Harvest all root crops when moon is full and growing old. Gather seed at full moon when it is in sign of Cancer, Taurus, Libra, Scorpio, Pisces, or Capricorn. Celery does fine when planted while incereasing moon is in Libra. Use new and increasing moon for planting and full and old moon for harvesting and cultivating. |
