CHAPTER ONE? Life in Space Stars twinkle in harmonic trend. The space was covered with sparkling objects. An icy rock crossed my vision. I hold back and turn at my back. There were so many people in different places, each were busy with their business. I looked again outside through this glass window. Seeing the usual thing, twinkling objects, I pushed the button at the side. Automatically a white metal closed the window. It’s been a year since I lost Adam. Although the pain already subsides, the memories keep coming back. My hearth feels cold. I move toward a door, which automatically opens as I get near, and went out of the control room. My eyes were already tired of looking at those Doppler and radar analyzer. Tired of checki8ng the different proposals and tired of looking for a living planet. Actually, it’s already the frustration of every living thing in this enormous spaceship, which we call NOVA. The ship’s name was actually the vocal responder main computer, which we depend on our search for every thing. A rounded cylindrical machine moved towards me. “Good morning Madam Venus.” The 3-feet tall robot said in its digital voice. “Good morning JP!” was my response as the robot moved away. I took a glance at a statue of me, Adam, Melanie, and Dennis as I entered the intersection of section 2-B. The four statues towered about seventy feet, almost touching the dome of this section. Elevators moved up and down at the sides of this section. There were many people, robots, and flying automobile crossing the fly-overs of this section. There are still so many regrets that I feel with Adam gone. If only he’s here with me. If only I could feel his touch, then I will not feel this coldness. I wave my hand and a car stopped infront of me. It’s doors opened and I step inside. “Where to ma’am?” a man asked in an enthusiastic voice. “Pentagon head!” I responded as the car elevates and moved. As I looked outside, there were a group of people rallying; asking for more air, food and water. My head is already aching with so many problems. That’s why we have to resolve issues with Melanie, Dennis, and the other Cabinets in the Pentagon headquarters. The highest offices so far in this flying space metal. CHAPTER TWO ? The issues As I enter the conference room, the people inside were already arguing. I can see. Dennis and Melanie for the first time argue. It’s quite an odd thing that we three were the only teenagers but fully respected. Since our heroic deeds end, we were given the highest positioning so far the cabinet.     Being a cabinet is just equal to being a president back in those days of planet earth. The only difference is that there were thirteen cabinets equally empowered to take command over this ship.     The tension suddenly subsides as they took a notice of my presence.     “Since, everyone’s here… shall we get started” Mr. Rollins declared as everyone took a seat. Mr. Rollin, a man at about forty, his hair is always brushed up. When Earth was still present, he was the senator in United States. He believed that the power to control should be place on the hand of one person, claiming to avoid arguments and conflicts is the reason, and not on a group of different-thinking individuals. “ May I ask you people, when are we going to stop looking for something that does not exist…” Mr. Rollins said. “ It does exist, scientist have prove it!” Melanie interrupted in a strong voice. “Even if it does exist, it will took us so many years, decades or even centuries. Remember that we don’t know where to find. This galaxy is unknown to us!” Mr. Rollins said as he stand and walks around the oblong-shaped table and continued. “You see, we must land on a solid planet and create a new habitat, artificially!” “That would be risky! How do you suppose to mean ‘to make a new habitat’ when this place have been lacking air and food!” I said as everyone’s faces turns toward me.” Our supply is depleting rapidly, as if the consumption is very exaggerated. Food and air, from my knowledge, is being distributed equally; but it turns out that the people is just getting a portion- a small portion. What is happening?” “What I’m suggesting is, before we make another plan, let’s set things here first. We need cooperation and investigation.” I finished my statement receiving nods from a few. “Kids! You don’t know everything. You’re using your heart not your mind.” Mr. Rollins shouted. “ Yes we are kids but we think maturely than you do. Don'’ forget that without us you’re all be dead!” Melanie shouted back. The arguments started again. My head ached upon looking at them- arguing and getting a little bit physical. “Enough!” I shouted, standing up and hitting the table.” Let the meeting resumes until everyone settles their childish acts down!” Looking at them straightly, I decided to get out of this room first. Looking back, I noticed they have obeyed. CHAPTER THREE ? A stranger in the park I arrived at my apartment tired and worry. I hope that when I sleep and woke up everything will be fixed. I get a glass of water then an aspirin to ease the pain in my head. Glancing at my bed, I saw at very alluring. How ousing it is to relax myself and went to sleep. I went toward it, lay down and shut my eyes. “Lights off!” I said as the lights dimmed. Everything’s turning nice then the phone rang. “What is it this time?” I said to myself –annoyed. It was Melanie crying. She and Dennis had a big fight and broke up. “Where are you?” I asked. “I’m at the park.” She said in a shaking voice, followed by sobs. “Hang on there, I’m coming!” I said as I fixed myself, grab my bag, and went out locking the door. The park is just like any other park-only its man made. We call it “the park” coz’ we don’t have much time to think of names that will claim it. I rushed walking as I got off the cab. I forgot to ask her where in the park and I left my phone. Looking at different direction, I suddenly felt I hit someone and fell on the ground. “Ouch!” I expressed feeling the impact. “I’m so sorry, are you alright?’ a voice said as I look up. He was tall, blonde, well built handsome young man. About my age wearing a blue shirt and slacks. “Thank you!” I said as he helped me stand up. Gave my bag and keys. “I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you. I guess I was walking very fast. I’m David.” He said making a charming smile as wind pushed my hair and tangled it. “I’m…” I started fixing my hair. “ Venus, I know. You’re the lady who saved us. Let me fixed that.” He said as he bring my hand down and gently brushed my hair with his hands. “There it’s done!” “Thank you David.” I said smiling. Unnoticing that it was my very first smile since the day I lost Adam. “Have you seen a lady crying at a bench. I believe you know her too… Melanie?” I asked looking around. “Oh yes. I saw her there.” He said pointing at a direction. “Thanks. I better get there immediately!” I said saying goodbye to him. He insisted to accompany me but I refused. CHAPTER FOUR ? Emotions After some walking, I found her. She looks very disturb. Her eyes were already red and swollen as pieces of wet tissues scattered around her. “Melanie what happened?” I immediately ask upon seeing her. She looks up at me very desperately and hugged me.  “Oh Venus, it’s over…! She said as she sobs and started to cry and continued. “Dennis strongly believe with Mr. Rollins and started to make a strong bond with him. I said that his making a big mistake. You know I’m on your side. My belief, I mean…we share the same belief but he has been manipulated. We argue too much over the issue. We shouted at each other, then, then…we broke up! Ohh…”Melanie told me as I comfort her. “We can’t blame him. He has his own mind and decision. I believe he agrees with Mr. Rollins because he looks up to him as a model. You know, he’s becoming a man. They share the same manhood acts. If only Mr. Rollins did not take advantage. To get the majority of the cabinets is his plan. Don’t worry I’ll talk to him!” I said as I look around thinking of Mr. Rollins and his plans. “Will you do it?” she asked. “What are friends for!” I replied” c’mon lets go home.” The inhabitants in this ship regard us as an equal individual but they respect our powers and commands. As we go home, I recalled the memories of us four, Melanie, Dennis, Adam, and Me. How are we together-our closeness and friendship. Our laughter’s, our jokes, Our mischief’s and our great bond. We use to understand each other, feel the needs of each other, and most especially care for each other. Adam, how I missed him. I remembered, every after class, we meet at the canteen and talk about anything. The way me and Adam use to tease Melanie and Dennis because of their sweetness. But what happened? I can’t stop to dream of Adam together with us and be complete again. The place was cold, its always cold inside this spaceship. Matching my inner coldness. Adam use to be the one who I can turn to. My shield, my strength, will and friend. Everytime I loose the will to win, he was there giving all that he got. But now, there’s no one to turn to, only myself. Melanie and Dennis have been taking to many pressures. I think we need a break but we can’t. From the very day Adam received the documents of Prof. Nile, we never stopped movin’ even up to now. CHAPTER FIVE ? Reflections We decided to take the night resting. I told Melanie that I will talk to Dennis tomorrow. When I got home, I drink a glass of cold water and went to bed. There was a very bright light. Then everything cleared. I look around. The place was a mess. Buildings destroyed and remnants of chaos. I’m on Earth. But how? I shouted for anyone there, no response. It was deserted. Like that of a ghost town. Wind pushed my hair hardly. I saw a piece of paper flying. My eyes followed it as it lands. I picked it up, as I notice I was near an edge. I inspect the surroundings. I’m like in a piece of land, a very small piece, surrounded by red colored ocean.Like in a small flat island floating on this ocean. The wind pushed again, the paper almost slips my hand but I managed to hold it. I looked at the paper. There were so many figures and sentences. And there was a title above: The Shatter Day. A piece of the document! But how? I moved back, then I felt I hit someone. I slowly turned back. I saw a man very familiar- Adam! Very confused and shock, I tried to touch him. Then it breaks, like he was made of brick. Pieces of him drops to the ground. I immediately got up. My bodies sweating. Breathing very hard and feeling scared. “Lights on!” I said as it brightens. I get out of the bed and drank a glass of cold water. “A bad dream” I thought as I reached for the phone. Dialed some numbers and talk to my mom. I greeted her and ask about my father and sister. I never said anything about the dream-still scared and confused. My family’s at the town 26A sector of this ship, far from my place. Atleast my fear subsides as I hear everyone’s story and what they have been doing. The next day, it’s actually by space-time, I personally went to Dennis. I wanted to help the two back and I also wanted him to be on our side. “Yes, what do you want!” Dennis abruptly said. “wait, let me guess, Melanie sent you!” “No. I went here by my own decision. I know you already know why!” I replied looking at Dennis in his black coat and tie. Maybe he’s going to a party. “It’s over between me and Melanie! We have our own beliefs and opinions. Don’t try to manipulate!” he said firmly. “I’m not manipulating you. All I’m trying to tell you is that; don’t ruin your love because of difference. Remember everything that you have gone through. Don’t waste the foundation of your relationship.”I explained. “Look who’s talking! Love? What do you know about it. You’re as hard as a stone. You never have a heart ver since Adam died. Don’t be good on something your not!” he said. He turn his back and went out. I was left speechless and motionless from the words that Dennis throws on me. Am I already like that? I was left alone on his place, so I decided to go home. When I arrived, I looked at myself at the mirror. I went to Dennis strong yet I feel vulnerable when I left. I noticed that I forgot to fix myself the way I use to fix myself before. I looked matured. I realize I was not the Venus before. Dennis was right. I sat down thinking. After a while I remember a box that I never open for a year from now. CHAPTER SIX ? The diary I finally found it. I opened it. As I look through all the stuff inside, memories flow through me. The box contained all my stuff when I was on Earth. My teen clothes, make up, pocketbooks, notes, diary, and accessories. Hold it, my diary! I picked it up. Looked at its elegant cover and lock. Unlocking it then opened it. The first page almost made me breakdown and cry. There are some writings on it. It said: Happy birthday my Angel. You are now sixteen, truly sweet and magnificent. From, Adam My heart was filled with emotions as I remember him and pictured my sixteenth birthday. My tears rolled down with a heavy feeling as I remember the way he gave me his gift. He tried to hid it inside my bag but I caught him. He said he was just checkin’ it out (my bag) and I pretended not to see the gift. I smiled then laugh as I wiped my tears. I never did made an entry nor checked the diary thoroughly for Adam called me every night, the time I should be writing on it. I flip the blank pages then find an entry at the last page. It’s Adam’s entry. May 13, 1999 Hi Venus. I hope you like my gift. There’s nothin’ that I think of giving you. I think that a diary be coz’ your stories always make me laugh. I hope you will not change. And even if we parted ways, you will still be the best friend I ever had. There’s one quote I like its: to sum up everything I learn from life, it just goes on. -Adam   Was this the message that is destined for me to know, I thought. He’s right, his damn right. Life must go on. And even were not together, he’s the best person that I ever had. I remembered we have a meeting (the cabinets). I went to the shower and fixed myself. Everything’s beginning to lighten up- I think. CHAPTER SEVEN? Partition and coalition I put on the earphone and went out of my place. I feel very light and a little shining, maybe because of the cool R&B music or because of my toned straight hair. As I ride a taxi, I see again those people shouting with their posters (protesting). I called for the taxi to stop. Then went toward the crowd. Everybody turned at me. “Piece, I came here to get your cries and take them to the cabinet’s meeting” I shouted as the people began to smile and rejoice. As if I’m the Angel fallen to help them. One by one they gave me their comments, opinion, and suggestions as I take them down in my palm jam computer. As I went back to the car, the people where wishing me and stating their all out support. But one question from them really made me smile. That is why I ride a taxi instead of an official vehicle. I answered that I want to be normal as possible and besides it’s a great help to the drivers and to the cabinets budget for not buying a car. As I walk through the hall of the building, I think of the people’s voices. How to get the majority in favor with them. I walked a little faster as I make a turn to the right. “Ohh!” I expressed as I felt the impact of being hit. My computer fell. “I’m very sorry!” someone said as I pick it up. Looking at him, I smiled. “David, how nice to bump to you again.” I said. He looks fresh today. “I’m really sorry. Are you hurt?” he asked in a charming manner, then continued. “ You look lovely today!” “Thank you. You I’m beginning to think that seeing you always accompany of being hit.” I said smiling. “Next time, I’ll make sure that when we see each other again you’ll bump at twelve roses from me.” He said smiling great. “I’m looking forward for that. I must be going. See ya!” I wave goodbye and move, still looking at him. He is still smiling, looking at me as I walked forward looking at him. “Damn his cute” I thought. “Ouch!” I expressed again as I felt the pain of hitting the wall. I looked at him again. He was laughing then he waves goodbye and move away. When I entered the conference room, everyone’s head turns towards me- staring. “What!” I said then everyone came back to their senses. “What have you eaten. Your hair is fixed, wears make up and jeans. Very unlike the cold you. Improving or back to your senses?” Melanie whispered as everyone takes a seat and prepares. “Have you talk to him?” she asked. “Yes and I’m sorry I failed.” I replied as I make a glance at Dennis. “Its o.k. I already accepted it.” She said. “So we are here again. And I hope that everyone has make up his or her minds so that we can come up with a decision. And I know that the decision agrees with mine.” Mr. Rollins said as an opening statement accompanied with his wicked smile. “Before that, I would like to share somethin’ with all of you.” I interrupted as I stand up. “ I went to the people protesting and here is what they’re askin’ for. They want sufficient food and air that is appropriately what they should get or be getting. They want assurances of what or where we are really going. And they want greater service than what they are having now.” “Those people are abusing their stand!” Mr. Rollin pointed. “No they are not!” Mr. Chun li said in a strong voice. “ The people are telling the reality of what is really going on. Where do really are the foods going? We know that the foods are allotted for proper consumption. Or maybe the people are getting less because some are getting more!” Mr. Chun li said raising his left eyebrow and looking straight at Mr. Rollins. There are murmuring heard from the truth that was revealed. “And about the second question- where are we going to?” Mr. Rollins changed the topic. “We must stop wasting our time and fuel looking and searching for something that we cannot reach. Instead build now a new artificial environment at the nearby dead planet!!” Some were nodding and others were disagreeing on the emphasis Mr. Rollins made. Starting a new conflict and argument. “You see, we cannot move on if we keep on adding issues!” Mr. Rollins added. “Some of you are really stupid. Well, I don’t blame you if you lack education, experience, and most especially age!” The argument grew bigger and must be solved. Before I could make a statement, Mr. Rollins shouted: “Let’s give this to the real politicians and rulers. Those who agree with me stand up and make a new party!” And those who don’t remain!” Melanie shouted back already annoyed. There was quite a silence, then Mr. Meyer joined Mr. Rollins. The ex-mayor of New York stands up. Then followed by Mr. Jalan, the ex-prime minister of Singapore; Mrs. Jalan, his wife; and Gen. Dick, the Sec. Of Defense of Germany. Five of them were standing, Mr. Rollins looking annoyed and Melanie smiling. Then Dennis stood up. Mr. Rollins smiled putting his arm around Dennis’ shoulder saying, ”brilliant man!” Melanie looked down very sad. I’m not anymore surprise with what happened. I know that Dennis will really go with them. Melanie looked at Dennis painfully as their group went out of the room. Dennis never glanced back. Melanie can’t do anything but to remain silent. There were already two opposing parties, six of them, seven of us. So I guess we still got the majority but I feared of what will Mr. Rollins do over our advantage. We decided to call the day off. Melanie is going to stay with me tonight coz’ she needs someone to support her at these times. It really hurts to see the one you truly love taken away from you especially when he is beside the enemy, the feeling of heartache and betrayal. CHAPTER EIGHT? A new battle   Melanie was very silent, very peculiar of her, from the time we left the conference room till we arrived at my place. She looks broken. “Are you alright?” I asked as I hold the doorknob. “Huh…oh yes…no. I don’t know!?” she said depravedly. “Let’s get in then.” I said as I opened the door. Closing it and said, ”lights on!” As the room brightens up, I was shocked and amazed upon seeing twelve bouquets of roses arranged magnificently across the room. “Oh my God” I expressed as Melanie glared with confusion. “Wait a minute, I smell something here. First, the hair was fixed and wears make up and jeans. Now this.” Melanie said looking at me. “He really did it.” I said. “Who’s he?” Melanie but-in. “Nothin’! C’mon let’s get some rest.” I said as I smelled the scent of the roses floating across the room. “If you don’t like him I’m available.” She said. “Shut up. You really are depressed!” I replied. The sound of the phone burst around the room. Melanie pushed the speaker button and said, “Who is it?” “Hi, it’s David. Is Venus there?” the voice said. “Here David.” I said telling Melanie to be quiet. Well at least we are smiling. “So, did you like the flowers? I told you, you will bump to them. I just can’t wait. I hope you don’t mind- its twelve bouquet instead of only twelve roses coz’ I think you deserve more.” “That’s sweet of you, thank you.” I replied smiling as Melanie teases me. “I think it’s time for your rest so I will not anymore disturb you.” He said, ”I love you” There was a silence of me upon hearing those words. “Are you there?” he asked. “Yes, I’m here.” I said. “I love you.” He said again while Melanie stare for my answer. “ Thank you David.” I replied. “Oh O.k. Bye then.” He said, then the transmission was cut. “Thank you? Why thank you!” Melanie asked vigorously. “I can’t…say I love you back.” I replied. “But you like the guy, it’s obvious! C’mon you’re single for more than a year.” She said. “I…I promised Adam.” I said, “I promised that I will not love anymore except him. Let’s not talk about this.” “Sure. Let’s go to sleep.” She said as we went to bed and sleep. The next day Mr. Chun li called and told us that the news already spread throughout the ship and that Mr. Rollins has been campaigning for people to join him in overthrowing us. Mr. Chun li also said that we have to move too. This is truly a real battle and a big one. The phone keeps on ringing coming from people who are voluntarily joining our party. My parents and Melanie’s called and gave their support. Even without the media profession in this ship, news really spread very fast. I only hope that there’s no exaggeration and that people don’t fight and harm each other. But I fear that it’s going to happen. We meet at the intersection of section 2B where all the people joining us went. We decided to call our party the Liberal Party. We heard that the other group calls their party “the Reformist”. The day was very hectic in campaigns and reinforcements but because of the people’s strong support, their yells and cheer everytime we deliver our speeches, lightens things up. But ofcourse, the other party have a big numbers of followers too. My fears came true for it was told to me that there were fights already in the other section of this ship. But there’s no more retreat, we have to fight back. CHAPTER NINE? People versus people   The campaigns have been simultaneous. And the fights between followers of different parties grew bigger and bigger. The problems of having no police and peacemakers are now realized. We did not create any police force before for we think that there’s no need for it because we believe that the inhabitants of this ship are in harmony. Well, not anymore. It was reported to me that the fights in different sections are becoming violent and brutal. So, the people are showing their animal instincts. Yes, riots are already present. People versus people. Atlast, the campaign was over. Well, just for this day. The game is already, the more the stronger. And we have to fight with this game. Mr. Chun li invited us, all the members of the party, to his place for refreshment. Mr. Chun li was a good cook, his Chinese muffins are the best. After a while we decided to go home. “Goodbye Mr. Chun Li, and thanks for the refreshments.” I said as we move out of the door. “Mr. Chun Li take care!” Mrs. Kenya, the ex-ambassador of Libya said. “Thank you and be careful. Rollins is a very dangerous man. And Venus, don’t restrict your heart from loving again. Goodbye people!” Mr. Chun Li replied. “I’ll remember that. Bye” I replied. The door was closed and we turn our backs and went to the elevator, which is just three meters away, to go out of this building. Just a meter away from Mr. Chun Li’s place, a big explosion shock the building intensely making us fall unbalancely on the floor. There was an enormous fire from Mr. Chun li’s apartment as metal scraps and fragments of glass and concrete were thrown. Black smoke thickens. “Oh my god! Mr. Chun li!” I cried as I try to go back. “No, Venus it’s too dangerous!” Mrs. Kenya shouted as Melanie holds me. “Mr. Rollins is surely behind this! Who else” Melanie firmly said. “C’mon, we have to leave fast. The place is not safe!” cried Mr. James, England’s ex-prime minister. “Let’s use the elevator!” Mr. Marks, big businessmen back at Earth at about fifty-two. The elevator opened and we quickly entered. Letting it close and pressing the ground button. The elevator went down. There was some relief but we still can’t accept that Mr. Chun Li is dead. The elevator suddenly stopped. “What happened?” I asked as a shrieking sound was heard. The elevator shook. Out hearts beat fast. The fire was already at the cable. “We have to get out of here!” Mr. Fisher shouted. As everyone tried to open the door. “It won’t budge!” Melanie shouted in panic as everyone desperately tried to open the door. Then we hear one of the cable snaps. The elevator suddenly moves down fast as we cried and shouted in fear. Then its emergency breaks functioned. There was a sudden stop. We were pushed down the elevator floor. “The breaks won’t hold last. We have to get out!” Mrs. Kenya shouted as everyone looked at each other. Then everyone move to open the door. The elevator shrieks again. “Hurry!” Melanie shouted. Then it opened. But the building’s floor was halfway the elevator’s door. Mr. James pushed me up and I crawl out. Then Melanie was out. The elevator made a shrieking sound again. “C’mon, hurry!” Melanie shouted as Mr. Marks went out. The elevator shook again. Everyone hurry up. Mr. James was out. Two more left. Then the elevator’s breaks started to loosen up because of the fire. Mrs. Kenya was pushed up and we pulled her out. Mr. James stretched his hand for Mr. Fisher. “C’mon jump” Mr. James shouted as Mr. Fisher ready to jump. Then the elevator moved down in rampage as Mr. James pulled his hand upon seeing the situation. “No, Mr. Fisher!” Melanie shouted with her face wet with tears. Mr. Fisher was always good to Melanie. The building shook because of the elevator’s impact. Sparks of flame appeared everywhere. We hurry down the stairs as the fire and smoke covered the building. I noticed I have a wound on my elbow but it’s just a scratched. There is no water to put out the fire coz’ the water reserve was already small for consumption. When we went out of the building, some people help us. Some of them tried to put out the fire by the remaining fire extinguishers.   CHAPTER TEN? Discoveries As we stared at the building on fire, Melanie told me that she has been leaving messages to Dennis telling him that her feelings has never changed. That she still loves him and that she respects his decision and even if they were on different sides she still wishes that they will be together someday. Because of what happened, the fights between sides grew stronger. Although we don’t have the evidence, the people on our side blame Mr. Rollins group. The people started to take arms. The violence were growing and must be stop before the human species came to instinction. Melanie and I decided to went home. As we are about to ride the taxi, four men nab us pointing their guns at us. Melanie screamed as we struggle against them. We manage to get loose and run as they fired at us. We tried to escape the bullets as it hit the panicking innocents. The place was full of terror. People were running scared. Then someone pulled Melanie and me and fired back at the four men. “ Venus are you alright?” the man said. “David thank god. How did you find me” I asked as he fired back and hit one of the four. “I heard about the explosion on the building. I know you went there. I feared of loosing you.” He said as we hid at the parked car. “C’mon, lets run!” David said as he pulled us. Melanie screamed as the bullets almost hit us. The gunmen are at our trail. We run as fast as we can. We run cautiously as we avoid stray bullets. We went through a dark alley and entered a big building, like a bodega. We closed the iron door and hid there. There was silence. “Melanie where are you going?” I asked. “I will find the switch to the light.” She replied. “Venus, there’s something that I would like to tell you.” David said as he holds my hand. I turn to him. “What is it?” I asked consciously, looking at his blue eyes. “ I left home to join you.” He said. “Why… why left home?” I asked. “Remember when we bump at each other at the pentagon headquarters…”he said “Yes, by the way why are you there?” I said. “I was there because my father was an official.” He said “Who?” I ask a he hold my face. “My father is Ramil France Rollins. I’m David Rollins.” He said in a low voice. “Your…Mr. Rollins is your father?” I replied. “Yes and I’m sorry if I didn’t tell you.” He replied. “No, its o.k. I know I can never replace him but I know I can protect you and be there for you at all times.” He said. “Its been a year since I lost him…” I replied “You have been in the shadows for too long. I promise that I will protect you from my father.” he said. I smiled looking at his sweet face. He looked at me in the eyes, then slowly moves his face towards me. The magical thing is going to happen again. Then Melanie shouted,” I found it!” The lights suddenly went on. David quickly moves back. As the place lightens up, a question was answered. The place was full of goods, the foods from the reserve are being smuggled! The three of us stared at the truth found. “So this is where all the foods are going” I said. “Just right under our noses.” “Not to mention some supply of oxygen. Look!” Melanie pointed at the big oxygen tanks piled. There were many crates there that we discovered. David and I opened it and found guns and explosives. “oh my god…” I expressed looking at all the ammunition. Fearing the things that these can be done to us. “ Where’s Melanie?” I asked Adam looking for her. “She’s here!” A voice of a man was heard. We slowly turn around and found Melanie with a caliber 45 on his head held by a man. Melanie’s face was full of fear. “Father…!” David shouted. “I knew you will be a problem. You and your feelings.” Mr. Rollins shouted. “ Pls. don’t kill her. I’m begging you!” I cried as I looked at Melanie with her tears rolling down because of her fear. “You shit! You won’t get away with this! The people will know.” Melanie shouted as she fight to get loose. “Shut up!” Mr. Rollins said pulling Melanie’s hair as she cried in pain.” Get them, including my son and lock them up!” Mr. Rollins commanded as five men pulled us and drag us. We are taken to a room, pushed inside and were locked. “Melanie are you alright?” I asked hugging her for comfort as she cried. “What now?” She said in trembling voice. “Don’t worry, we will find away out of this!” David said looking at me. “ He will pay. I no longer regarded him as my father.” We inspect the room, there’s no way out. The room was solid metal. Then we heard a sound coming from outside, like there was a fight. The door was opening. We moved back. We feared that they are going to kill us. The door was opened. David covered us. A figure came out. “ Melanie!” a voice said coming from a man. “Dennis!” Melanie shouted upon seeing him. She run and hugged him in tears.” What took you so long?” “ I just received your massages. I tried to reach you but you are missing. I accidentally heard everything from Mr. Rollins. They were just using me. I’m very very sorry!” Dennis said hugging her tightly. “I should have listen to my real friends. Venus, forgive me. You are right, everything you have said to me is true.” “It’s alright, I understand what you have gone through!” I replied as I see Melanie smiling and very happy. “ I love you Melanie, I hope you still love me!” he said looking at her. “ I never changed my feelings about you!” Melanie replied. “C’mon, let’s go. We must leave before the guards arrived.” Dennis said. We move fast as we went out of the room. We learned that the spaceship is experiencing intersection war, literally. The people have been fighting with each other with all the weapons they have. Many were already killed. Many constructions have been destroyed. The wreckage has been enormous. The thing that happened on earth is happening again. And if this continue, the human life will be erased without seeing a new planet. The ship is starting to shatter. We also learned that Mr. Rollins’ alliances have declined him because of the plotted assassinations. But Mr. Rollins has soldiers with weapons. CHAPTER TWELVE? The bomb As we move out of the building, Mr. James and the others have arrived. They said that there are parts of the ship destroyed and on fire. And also they have been fighting and beaten Mr. Rollins soldiers. Then, a big quake occurred making us all stopped. Everyone sensed the ground. “ The ship is starting to break up!” Mr. Marks said as everyone felt the fear that we have felt at the last days of the Earth. “Venus and Melanie wait, there’s something I have to tell you.” Mrs. Kenya said holding me. “Pls. Control yourselves upon this.” “What is it?” I asked looking curious. “ Your family…your family has died over the explosion on their section. I’m very sorry.” Mrs. Kenya said in a low voice. “ No…!” Melanie cried hugging Dennis. “ He is not going to get away with this!” I furiously said as tears came out of my eyes. David tried to comfort me. The agony was so great. But I tried to remain strong and hard. “ You people try to save the remaining inhabitants. We are going to face Rollins.” I commanded. Everyone moves as the place shook again. There were many people running and panicking on the roads. Flying vehicles collide with each other and exploding in the mid-air. A big explosion again was felt. Debris of metal and glasses fall as we move away. There were so many cries and shout all over. Blast of fires appeared. There were so many crashing above. Sparks of light appeared from different corners. We have arrived at Mr. Rollins place. As we move inside, we noticed that there are no more guards. The place was deserted. We move through the corridor. We searched all the rooms, noone’s there. Where could he possibly be? “ He must be at the smoking lounge!” David said. We went to the smoking lounge. We pushed the button at the side and the glass door opened. We went inside and found a man sitting, facing at the back. “ It’s over dad. You have lost!” David said “ It’s time for you to pay for all the crimes you did!” I shouted at him. “Not quite!” he said turning his chair and facing us. “ Look there!” he pointed at something. A nuclear bomb! “Where did you get this?” I asked. Everyone was shock at the site. “The same with all the guns and ammunitions. Before the ship leaves the Earth, I hid the weapons inside to prepare for claiming power. I plan to rule everyone, To rule a new empire. Since every one of you go with shrewd little Venus and destroyed my plans, I go with my last resort. “ If I go down, you shall go down too. I still won.” He said laughing. “ You bull shit!” Dennis cried as he put out a pistol and shot his head. Blood burst out from Mr. Rollins head as his body drops on the floor. David slowly went towards him. Looks at him sadly and went back at us. Melanie told Dennis who David is. Everyone understood his state. We now how hard it is to loose someone. The ship made a great quake again but this time it followed by a loud sound of twisting metal. “We must detonate the bomb fast!” Melanie said. We move fast and inspect the bomb. There’s a problem it has anti-tamper devices, it cannot be detonated. A big explosion again was felt as the ground shook. As the hands of clock tick, the horror is strongly felt. We are starting to sense that there is no more hope. CHAPTER THIRTEEN? The escape Unable to stop the bomb, we don’t know what to do. Our fears grew stronger as another shook was made creating a crack on the ceiling. “What now?” David asked. “ There is no other choice, the bomb will explode in no less than fifty minutes. We must leave this ship!” Dennis explained. “But how?” Melanie cried looking for answers. “There is a small space craft at the pod. It can fit seven people. But there’s only one craft.” I explained as I watched the timer. “Then let’s hurry before anyone gets it!” Melanie said. Everyone moved to get out except for me, I felt heavy because of the realization that my family is gone and now the ship is going to shatter. The humanities that we tried to save together with this enormous spaceship. I have done everything to save the ship and mankind but because of someone’s greed and stupidity, all went to nothing. I promised Adam to do the best that I could until the living planet is found. But I failed. The planet was never found. I said that I would finish this job with playing colors and finishing the job means until we found the planet. As the three went out of the door, I stopped. Pressing the button, the glass door closed and locked. “Venus what are you doing?” David turned, immediately asked as the door was locked. “You have to go on, save yourselves!” I said, as my eyes became watery. “No, open this door! I promised to protect you!” Adam shouted as Melanie tried pushing the buttons outside. “ I put everything on this ship. I put everything in saving mankind. Adam died because of this. I promised to continue what Adam left, saving everyone. But I failed” I said as tears rolled down me face. “It’s not your fault. You are not a failure, Venus! Open this.” David cried as his tears went out. I can see Melanie crying. Dennis tried breaking the door but it was fiber strong. “C’mon Venus, were in this together! Remember…” Melanie shouted in tears. “ If the ship goes down, I go too.” I said painfully. “Venus, I love you. Don’t do this to me” David said as the place shook and sparks appeared. Cables of electricity sparks at the side. “Go! You go and save yourselves. Please, don’t make this hard on me!” I said as I placed my hand on the glass door over David’s face. The place shook hard followed by some explosion. “Hurry!” “No…Venus, I love you. I will protect you forever.” David shouted, wet with tears, as Dennis pulled him out. I pushed another button, then a white metal covered the door. I sensed them leave until they are out of my hearing. The last thing I heard is David’s cries saying ”I love you”. I remembered that the same thing happen with Adam and Me, only I was the one doing what David is doing. I wiped my tears even though I can’t stop it from rolling. I regret things but I must do this. I sited down at the chair. I recalled every thing that happened to my life. It’s really hard to think that you’re alone. I recalled the things that happened from the start of all this-my sixteenth birthday. I remembered the very first time I bump to David. He was a stranger to me but he warmed my cold hearth. And the time that I bump on the wall looking at him. Adam you have given me such inspiration but things is going to end. So this is it! Then I remembered his gift, the diary, and his favorite quote. Meanwhile, Melanie, Dennis, and David run as they escape the rumbling buildings and explosions. Debris fell everywhere as the ship breaks up. Cracks appeared on the ship as the quake increased in intensity. They found a vehicle and floors it toward the pod hoping that the craft is still there. Dennis drives the air automobile fast but cautiously as he avoids all the falling debris. Explosion suddenly appeared surprisingly in differently places making it harder to pass through. They are also fighting against time. There were other automobile crashing against the wall. “Watch out!” Melanie shouted pointing on the big piece of metal. Dennis turned the flying vehicle in loop to avoid the metal as it made spark upon hitting the wall. A big fire engulfs the place because of the enormous impact of the metal as it collided with another vehicle below. “Thirty minutes left. Hurry!” Melanie shouted with the grip-taking ride as Dennis flies it through the intersecting flyovers. They entered a tunnel and down through an entrance. The vehicle slowed as it lands on the pod. CHAPTER FOURTEEN? Shatter The spacecraft was still there. The three went out of the vehicle. Dennis went inside the craft checking if everything is working. “Everything’s fine. C’mon aboard!” Dennis shouted at them as Melanie went in. “David, C’mon. Hurry!” Dennis shouted. David slowly went toward the ship then looks at the back, still hoping for Venus to arrived. But noone’s there. The place shook again hard. “ David hurry up!” Melanie said.” The bomb will explode soon!” David started to climb the craft, then heard a voice. “David…David wait!” The voice said. David slowly turned around and found someone running towards them. To his surprise, David jump down and run towards her. “Venus!!!” David shouted, as tears of joy appeared the two of them. Melanie and Dennis were very happy to see their friend back. “I thought I’ll loose you!” David said in tears as they meet and hugged each other. “I can’t let someone I love go, without letting him know what I feel for him. I love you David!” Venus said in tears. “I will not allow to loose again someone that I love!” “I promised to protect you forever, and I will do everything to do it.” David replied. “C’mon Venus, David! Five minutes left on the clock!” Dennis shouted. The two climb inside the craft. The four prepared for take off. A sound was heard from outside. “Help, help!” said in digital voice. “That’s JP, the robot. We need his database!” Venus replied. The robot was helped in. Dennis went to the controls with Venus, Melanie, and David. “One minute left!” David said. Dennis put on the ignition. The computer put on the path. Radar and Doppler screens opened. The button was pushed. But there’s no ignition. “oh my god! What’s the matter with this thing.” Melanie expressed. “This damn piece of junk!” Dennis shouted hitting the screen. Then the thrusters were on. “Yes!” Dennis rejoiced. Fires exploded out of the thrusters as the space window was opened. The craft immediately went out of the space ship. Simultaneous explosion appeared on different parts of the enormous ship together with the sound of crying people. The ship breaks apart as crack appeared. Then a very big explosion takes place. The explosion was so massive with its blinding light. The ship shattered into pieces as a great force ement pushing all the pieces to different direction. The force gets to the ship, pushing it greatly into space. We were pushed tremendously making our blood freeze in our capillaries. Resulting for us to be unconscious. CHAPTER FIFTEEN? A New Hope From billions of humans from Earth, Down to millions saved on the ship, down to the four who escape the explosion. The last of Mankind. Dennis, Melanie, David, and Venus together with a robot where the last evidence of mankind extinction. The spacecraft cruise the space in tremendous velocity as the passengers remain unconscious. Then the craft shook. I opened my eyes, and found everyone unconscious. I looked at monitors and found a blinking bulb as the Doppler screens and radar show orbital motion, and objects distances. “ We have found something” J.P. said in its digital voice. I pushed the button to open the craft’s front window. The window was divided at the center as it slowly opened. There was a bright light coming from outside as the window opened. The others woke up. To our surprise, we saw a planet outside the window. We are caught in its gravity making us orbit in it. “My god, it’s a living planet!” I exclaimed as I looked at the monitor showing blinking alert light telling the content of atmosphere, lithosphere and other parts. “We’re saved! Dennis, we made it!” Melanie shouted as she hugged Dennis in rejoice. “So we did made it.” I said as David put her arms around me. “Let’s land.” Dennis said as he prepared the landing of the spacecraft. As the ship slowly moved out of the orbit and to the planet, a new hope was realized. The four will start a new life on this new planet. Will try to start the civilization that was lost on planet Earth. In the midst of all the chaos that happened, love gave them strength to move on. To continue to fight for existence.
