Interesting Thoughts

Many churches teach their flocks that Jehovah's Witnesses do not teach the Bible. However, why do we not compare what the Bible says with what the churches say about the same subject. Although each of these verses can be expounded on for a greater understanding of exactly what they teach, for this exercise, I am allowing each verse to stand alone, against the teaching of the churches. It should be noted that not every church teaches every point listed as "the churches say," but in general they do.

Colossians 1:15 says Jesus is firstborn of all creation, the image of God. Churches say he has always existed and is God.

John 14:28, Jesus said: "... My Father is greater than I." Churches teach Father & Son are equal. (Co-equal and co-eternal.)

1 Corinthians 15:45 says Jesus was resurrected as a spirit. Churches say he was raised in his fleshly body.

Ezekiel 18:4, 20 says that the (sinful) soul dies. The churches say the soul is immortal.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-10 & Psalm 146:4 say the dead are unconcious. Churches say the dead are concious.

Romans 6:23 says the wages sin pays is death. At death, we are freed from, or acquitted of, our sin: Romans 6:7. Churches say the wages sin pays is eternal life in hellfire.

Acts 15:28, 29 says to abstain (or, keep away) from blood. Churches say we should not consume blood by mouth, but OK to infuse directly into our veins.

Ecclesiastes 1:4: "The earth abides (remains) forever." (See also Psalm 104:5.) Churches say earth to be destroyed.

Matthew 5:5: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Also see: Psalm 37:9-11, 29 Churches: "All saved persons go to heaven."

Proverbs 2:21, 22 says the wicked shall be removed from the earth. Churches teach the righteous will be removedfrom the earth in the "rapture."

John 13:34, 35; 15:12 say that Christians are to love one another. Churches teach we should kill other Christians if they happen to live in a country with which the country in which we live is at war.

Acts 5:29 teaches to obey God's law if it conflicts with human law. Churches imply we should obey man's law if in conflict with God's law.

Matthew 28:19, 20: "Go ... make disciples." Churches say just wait for people to come to church. Maybe talk to acquaintences, but no need to actively seek out others.
