The Witts Springs School Garden consists of two parts, which are seperated by a pond. The pond has a wooden bridge crossing it allowing one to visit the woods east of the school, as you can see in the photos above and below. In season, the garden consits of many different types of vegtables such as greens, squash, watermelon, tomatoes, lettuce and radishes. Our garden flowers consist of irises, daffodils, gladiolus, roses and peonies which are perennials. Our annual flowers consist of sunflowers, marigolds, coneflowers and hummingbird sage. Herbs include lemon balm, mint, sage and oregano. We are also members of the Millennium Green Project, which involved planting a millennium tree, garden or grove that would help us live in a healthier enviroment and bring our small rural Ozark community together. |

Seed Saving tomatoes is just one of many school projects that allow students hands-on learning from the garden to the classroom. This practical skill allows students to grow tomatoes from seed they've saved and take seedling plants to be grown at home for fresh vegetables. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
