Germany
This castle was built by Ludwig II in the 1800's.  Neuschwanstein is decorated with paintings that come from his favorite operas.  Only about 12 rooms were finished in the 6 months that he lived here before he mysteriously died at a mental asylum.
I had this picture taken on a really narrow bridge that was a million feet above a river.  I stayed on the bridge just long enough to smile for the camera and then I scurried off.
The yellow castle in the background is where Ludwig II grew up.  It is much plainer then Neuschwanstein.
Yay for the Haufbrauhaus!!  This particular beer hall in Munich had a gazillion picnic tables where we sat and indulged in pretzels and beer.  We estimated that this litre of beer is about 3 1/2 beers.  It took three of us just to eat one of those pretzels, yet I had no trouble drinking the beer by myself.
I decided to go on a day trip to the Dachau concentration camp.  It was a labor camp for men and it was used for twelve years to imprison anyone who spoke out against the Nazis.  This is the  memorial for all of its victims.
The Unknown Prisoner statue depicts the things a prisoner shouldn't do-look up (instead of at the ground), have his hands in his pocket (they were supposed to be visible at all times) and stand with his feet apart (they were supposed to stand up straight).
This sign says 'Work will free you' and it was the first thing that prisoners saw as they entered the concentration camp.
