Daryl L. Schrader began his study of martial arts in 1963.
He has studied several styles of Okinawan, Chinese,
Japanese and Korean Karate. In addition, he is well versed in the throwing
arts of Aikido, Jujitsu and Judo. The study of iaido, the wooden sword
and the jo has helped to sharpen his training. With over a half dozen Black
belts to his credit and having studied under several Grand Masters he is one
of the most versital and qualified martial artists in the Tampa Bay area.
He has taught begining and advanced credit karate courses at
St. Petersburg Junior College and Tae Kwon Do at the University of
South Florida. He presently teaches iaido and aikido at
The Aikido Dojo as well as aikido at the Sarasota Aikikai.
Daryl Schrader began his study of aikido over 30 years ago. Taking
his first aikido lesson from Koichi Tohei in the late 60's. He then
became one of the first personal students of Mitsugi Saotome
when he came to Sarasota in the mid seventies.
Sensei Schrader first studied karate with Mark Smith in the 60's,
Yung Ho in the 70's and is presently under Mike Hancock.
