The Wizard of Oz, the most watched movie of all time, continues to amaze viewers each time they see it.  And the books will forever enchant those who read them.  The storys of Oz are treasured  and will forever live in the hearts of millions.

The original book was written by L. Frank Baum in 1900, so this year is The Wizard of Oz's 100th Anniversaty.

Baum wrote 14 Oz books in addition to the other non-Oz books he wrote.  You can find these by clicking on the Barnes and Noble at the bottom of this page.
In 1902, a stage play of the book started touring the country.  The series' popularity grew and in 1939 MGM's production starring Judy Garland came out.  It is what introduced The Wizard of Oz to most of it's fans today. 
It also introduced Judy Garland to Show business at the young age of 16.  Though the part was made for an 11 year old, Judy was preferred over Shirly Temple because of her magnificent voice.
