Dragons of Autumn Twilight:

“Dragons. Creatures of legend. Stories told to children. But now dragons have returned to Krynn. The darkness of war and destruction threatens to engulf the land. Then hope appears - a blue crystal staff in the hands of a beautiful barbarian woman. The promise of hope, as fleeting as smoke upon the autumn wind, forces a group of longtime friends into the unlikely roles of heroes. Knight and barbarian, warrior and half-elf, dwarf and kender and dark-souled mage; they begin a perilous quest for... the legendary Dragonlance.”

My favourite Dragonlance Books:
This was the first book written and is still today one of the best.
Dragons of Winter Night:

“Dragons. Creatures of legend. Stories told to children. But now dragons have returned to Krynn. The darkness of war and destruction threatens to engulf the land. A small band of heroes brings hope to the land. But the hope is fragile as a rose and may be lost completely, shattered by the bitter winds of winter. Knight and barbarian, warrior and half-elf, dwarf and kender and dark-souled mage; they begin a perilous search for two artifacts that may help them or lead them to their destruction - the Dragon Orb... and the legendary Dragonlance.”

Dragons of Spring Dawning:

Dragons. Creatures of legends. Stories told to children. But now dragons have returned to Krynn. The darkness of war and destruction engulfs the land. Hope dawns with the coming of spring. Armed at last with the dragonlances, the heroes lead the people in the final desparate battle against the dragons. Knight and barbarian, warrior and half-elf, dwarf and kender and dark-souled mage; they must overcome their own doubts and resolve their own conflicts before they can hope to defeat… Takhisis, the Queen of Darkness.

(From the cover of Dragons of Spring Dawning)
The story is set in the world of Krynn, a somewhat peaceful world with magic. As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that an evil force is stirring up in the northern lands. The people believe gods are gone, and now worship a new set of gods... well enough about this, I won´t tell you the whole story, cause you NEED to read this one.
The land has grown even more dangerous, and now the heroes -- Tanis Half-Elven, Sturm Brightblade, Raistlin and Caramon Majere, Flint Fireforge and Tasselhoff Burrfoot -- have been separated. And Raistlin, his strange, hourglass eyes gleaming, has warned, "Farewell, my friends...And a long farewell it will be. Some of us are not destined to meet again in this world." This ominous prediction, along with sinister dreams, will haunt this group of long-time friends as they search for the mysterious dragon orb and the legendary dragonlance with the hope of stopping the advance of the Dark Queen!
Armed at last with the powerful dragonlances, the Companions of the Lance lead their people in a final desperate battle against the destructive dragons. Knight and barbarian, warrior and half-elf, dwarf and kender and dark-souled mage -- none has reckoned how high the price of victory -- or even defeat -- might be. One by one, they must each overcome personal doubts and conflicts -- their only hope if they are to stop the return of the five-headed dragon goddess, Takhisis.
