...and Updates

Oh, Happy Day!

After almost a year of searching, I have
finally found a permanent job position (the temp position at UTS doesn't count)!  I am now a new employee of Integrated Broadband Services, LLC  (IBBS).  I am doing technical support for the client cable companies of IBBS who offer broadband internet service to their customers.  The customers call into the IBBS call center directly for support.  There has been quite a learning curve, but I am starting to "feel my stride", as they say!

Partly in celebration, and also since that would likely be our only chance to do so,
Bridget and I took a long weekend excursion to Gatlinburg, TN.  We had a blast!  I plan on posting some pictures from the trip here soon!

The next phase of our lives is to get back in shape and get healthier in general.  This includes losing at least
fifty pounds of the weight I have steadily gained since 1997.  Bridget and I both need to do this and we have made a commitment to see each other through.  Bridget has rejoined Curves® after a hiatus in an effort to get some regular exercise.  I won't have the kind of schedule that would allow something like that (Curves® only accepts women as it is), but we are going to do a lot of walking or bicycling as exercise together on the days I have off.  In addition, we have both joined Weight Watchers® in an effort to get our diets under control.  The fact that we are doing all of this together should increase our chances of real success!  Today, I weighed in at 270.6 lbs at Weight Watchers.  Yikes!  That is the heaviest I have ever been!  I have a long way to go on this diet!  Wish us luck!

Over July 4th weekend, my mother
Peggy came up to visit with us as well.  I am glad she was up here to be with her children, as her (and our) wedding anniversary is July 3rd...and this was the first wedding anniversary since the death of my dad Chuck.

The second annual
Rogue Independent Music Festival is slated for this weekend in Atlanta, July 12th and 13th.  It has been made even bigger and better than last year's festival.  Sadly, I will not be a performer this year, but I plan on being there to help out and to enjoy some great music by my friends!  Check out the festival site HERE.

The
Tour de France is now underway.  Can Lance Armstrong and the USPS team come away with a record consecutive fifth Tour win?  We will have to see...I will be following closely!  ;-)

WEBSITE UPDATES: Naturally, I have updated the EMPLOYMENT page, but I have also added some artists to my MUSICAL INFLUENCES and FAVOURITE MUSIC ARTISTS pages, as well as the beginning of a new GAMING page for Chess.  Enjoy!

Diet Journal Report:

After the first week on the
Weight Watchers® diet plan...

Bridget has lost 2.2 pounds!  I am so proud of her!

Yours Truly has lost 5.2 pounds in just the first week!  Down to 265.4 pounds now!  Amazing...!

...Until you find out that men tend to lost faster than women and it is (for now) mostly water!

Bummer!

The
RogueFest was a resounding success!  It was definately better in all areas than last year's festival!  I got to see some great bands and see a lot of friends!  Go to the RogueFest website HERE for more information on the festival and bands involved and hopefully some pictures (some of them may be one taken by me!).

I am also proud to announce the unveiling of my
CHESS page!  I will develop it further in the near future!  I also updated the FAVOURITE MOVIES page.  Stay tuned!
