| Legand of the Cherokee Rose:: The mothers of the cherokee grieved so much that the chiefs prayed for a sign to lift the spirits of the mothers and give them strength to care for the children on the long march. From that day on a beautiful new flower, the cherokee rose, grew whereever a mothers tears fell. The rose is white for the tears, golden centers for the gold taken from cherokee lands, and seven leaves on each stem for the 7 Cherokee clans sent on the long journey. |
