Jacobus was the son of James Westervelt and Debora Van Schywen. Jacobus died 1781 in Kentucky, at 45 years of age.

Jacob was born in Raritan, Somerset Co., NJ May 20, 1740. Jacob was the son of Jan Smock and Leah Fonteyn. Jacob died 1818 in Hanover, Jefferson Co., IN, at 78 years of age.
