1. Gerardus¹ Ryker (John² Rycken, Abraham³, Abraham⁴), son of John Rycken and Geertie Wiltsee, was born in Closter, NJ November 16, 1740. Gerardus died September 15, 1781 in "Long Run Massacre", Eastwood, KY, at 40 years of age.

He married Rachel Demaree in NY, November 20, 1762. Rachel was born in Schrallenburg, NJ November 19, 1743. Rachel was the daughter of Samuel Demaree and Leah Demarest. Rachel died 1814 in Madison, Jefferson Co., IN, at 70 years of age. She was christened in Hampton, Bucks Co., PA, April 1, 1744. At 20 years of age Rachel became the mother of John Ryker January 18, 1764. At 22 years of age Rachel became the mother of Leah Ryker November 28, 1765. At 23 years of age Rachel became the mother of Gerardus Ryker, Jr. November 4, 1767. At 25 years of age Rachel became the mother of Samuel Ryker in Closter, NJ, November 4, 1769. At 27 years of age Rachel became the mother of Charity (Geertje) Ryker August 6, 1771. At 29 years of age Rachel became the mother of Rachel Ryker in Tappan, NY, June 19, 1773. At 33 years of age Rachel became the mother of Deborah O. Ryker in Tappan, Rockland Co., NY, January 23, 1777. At 41 years of age Rachel became the mother of Peter Van Cleave in Shelby Co., KY, 1785. At 43 years of age Rachel became the mother of David Van Cleave in Shelby Co., KY, March 24, 1787. After the death of Gerardus Ryker, Rachel married John Van Cleave.

At 23 years of age Gerardus became the father of John Ryker January 18, 1764. At 25 years of age Gerardus became the father of Leah Ryker November 28, 1765. At 26 years of age Gerardus became the father of Gerardus Ryker, Jr. November 4, 1767. At 28 years of age Gerardus became the father of Samuel Ryker in Closter, NJ, November 4, 1769. At 30 years of age Gerardus became the father of Charity (Geertje) Ryker August 6, 1771. At 32 years of age Gerardus became the father of Rachel Ryker in Tappan, NY, June 19, 1773. At 36 years of age Gerardus became the father of Deborah O. Ryker in Tappan, Rockland Co., NY, January 23, 1777. Gerardus Ryker was listed as a cordwainer at the time of his marriage in New York in 1762. He immigrated to Kentucky in 1780 from Berkeley Co., VA and was part of the "Low Dutch Colony" in Shelby and Henry Counties in Kentucky. He was killed by Indians in the Long Run Massacre, also known as Floyd's Defeat, September 15, 1781 near Eastwood in Jefferson County, Kentucky. From The Kentucky Encyclopedia edited by John E. Kleber (University Press of Kentucky, 1992): LONG RUN MASSACRE. The Long Run massacre was a major incident in the series of battles in which early settlers in Kentucky fought Indians and their British allies on the western frontier during the Revolutionary War. Long Run is located near Eastwood in Jefferson County, Kentucky. In September 1781 Maj. Bland Ballard discovered Indian signs near Squire Boone's Painted Stone Station, near what is now Shelbyville. He warned the settlers there and at Beargrass Station to move to Lynn Station, which was a more secure area. For unknown reasons, Boone's and several other families delayed moving for two days. When they finally left the station on September 14, 1781, they were surrounded at Long Run Creek by a large party of Indians reinforced by British soldiers under the command of Capt. Alexander McKee. An estimated sixty people were killed by the Indians; only a handful, including Squire Boone, escaped. See Lou Catherine Ciore, "Long Run Massacre,'' Register 10 (Jan. 1912): 75-6.

5 iv. Leah Ryker was born November 28, 1765. Leah died November 24, 1844 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 78 years of age. She married twice. She married Emanuel Meddick in Kentucky, March, 1787. She married James Crockett May, 1829.

6 v. Gerardus Ryker, Jr. was born November 4, 1767. Gerardus died January 7, 1839 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 71 years of age. He married twice. He married Mary Leah Van Cleave. Mary was born in Rowan Co., NC 1767. Mary was the daughter of John Van Cleave and Mary Shepherd. He married Leah Smock in Mercer Co., KY, May 5, 1791.

7 vi. Samuel Ryker was born in Closter, NJ November 4, 1769. Samuel died 1833 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 63 years of age. His body was interred in family cemetery near Canaan, Jefferson Co., IN. He married twice. He married Barbara Fullenwider in Jefferson Co., KY, May 5, 1790. Barbara was born 1771. Barbara was the daughter of Henry Fullenwider and Barbara. Barbara died June 19, 1829 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 57 years of age. Her body was interred in Jefferson Co., IN. At 19 years of age Barbara became the mother of Peter Ryker in Shelby Co., KY, June 28, 1791. Barbara became the mother of William Ryker in Shelby Co., KY, ca 1792. Samuel was born in Berkeley Co., VA October 7, 1776. Samuel died July 5, 1833 in Madison, IN, at 56 years of age.

10 ix. Deborah O. Ryker was born in Tappan, Rockland Co., NY January 23, 1777. Deborah died ca 1837 in Ripley Co., IN. Her body was interred in Mavety Cemetery, near Rexville, IN. He married Elizabeth Conklin in Newtown, Long Island, NY, 1747. Elizabeth was born in Hackensack, NJ 1727. Elizabeth was the daughter of Matthias Conklin and Sophia Mebie.

13 ii. Deborah Rycken was born in Newtown, Queens, Long Island, NY June 16, 1725. She married Daniel Martine Martone in Newtown, Queens, Long Island, NY, 1742. Daniel was born in New Rochelle, Westchester Co., NY ca 1725. Daniel was the son of John Martine and Eva Mabie. Daniel died March 3, 1807 in Haverstraw, Westchester Co., NY, at 81 years of age.

14 iii. Teunis Rycken was born in Newtown, Queens, Long Island, NY 1726.

15 iv. Margaret Rycken was born in Newtown, Queens, Long Island, NY 1727. Margaret died December 1, 1819 at 92 years of age. She married Cornelius Blauvelt in Newtown, Queens, Long Island, NY, August 9, 1752. Cornelius was born in Newtown, Long Island, NY ca 1722.

Grietje was the daughter of Jan Gerrits Van Buytenhuysen and Tryntie Janse. Grietje died November 15, 1732 in New Amsterdam, NY, at 71 years of age.
