DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO CHALLENGE

Here's my take on Sarah McLachlan's song. This is *no* way reflects my thinking, and I wrote it this way purposely. I had no specific improver in mind, so use your imagination and pick one. I would describe this one as "When obsession goes a little bit too far..."

The word play appeared on the TV screen and she sat back on the couch heavily. The familiar theme music began and once again emotions inside her were pulling her every which way. Her heart pounded at the thought of seeing his face, of hearing his voice and seeing the improv...even though she'd watched the episode a million times. She still didn't know how to move on.

It had become a nightly ritual for her...just watching the one episode and then going off to bed to begin another dreadful, depressing day. Her friends had given up on getting her out at night.
All she did was sit in front of the old TV and stare at his face.

Filled with anger, she stared jealously at the people around him. She knew she was meant to be with him. There was only him for her and her for him. She could tell how he was feeling just by looking at him. The way his eyes narrowed when he was confused...the way he burst into a small laugh when a fellow improver caught him off guard...the way he stood while waiting for an audience suggestion...couldn't anyone see his whole body and soul was aching with loneliness?

She'd given up on forgetting him a long time ago. She had tried to move on, but she could never find a way. She kept going back, doing what she had to to see him again. Now she could only see him on TV.

The episode ended much too quickly, and she quietly turned off the light, padded down the hall, closed her bedroom door and fell into bed. She stared up at the stars, wondering what he was doing at that exact moment. Was he yearning for her the way she was yearning for him?

"I do what I have to to be near you. Fate led me to find you...I won't rest until you're here with me," she whispered. Feeling a little satisfied, she rolled over to fall asleep to dream of his face and wake up in the morning to do it all over again.
