TRAVIS, Richard Charles (a.k.a. Dickson Cornelius Savage) (Opotiki 1884-
Rossignol Wood 1918) Killed July 1918 the day after Victoria Cross action.

JUDSON, Reginald Stanley (Auckland 1881-1972)
Three highest awards for gallantry open to a non-commissioned officer 
within one six-week period during July and August 1918.

GEORGE CROSS
King George VI in 1940, superseding the Medal of the Order of the British 
Empire for Gallantry, and ranking second in precedence after the Victoria 
Cross. Award to civilians for acts of gallantry, and for servicemen in 
cases where military honours would not be appropriate.

WILTSHIRE, Sidney Noel (Pilot-officer RAF)
He risked his life to save a member of his crew from death after an 
aircraft crash.
	Medal of the Order of the British Empire (1929)
	Exchanged for a George Cross (1941).

RUSSELL, Lance-Corporal David
He worked with partisans in Italy during World War Two, after escaping from 
a prisoner-of-war camp. He helped many other Allied prisoners to escape to 
safety.

22nd Battalion of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force:
	George Cross (posthumously - 1948)

HUDSON, Sergeant Murray Ken (Opotiki 1938 - Waiouru 1974)
New Zealand Army - Malaysia, Borneo and Vietnam
In February 1974 Hudson was supervising live grenade practice at Waiouru 
military camp when an NCO accidentally armed a grenade. He ordered the NCO 
to throw it and when there was no response, tried to wrestle it free and 
throw it himself but it exploded and killed both men.

	George Cross (posthumously - October 1974)
