--Ryan's POV--
Oh, my God, as Drew rightly said. I still can't believe I did
that. I mean, I know
I've...kissed him before, but that was... a lot weirder, for a
start. If Drew hadn't
buzzed, I don't think I'd have been able to stop. One things for
sure, I'm never
telling Colin that it wasn't just the character. I haven't
stopped thinking about it.
I can't. All through the rest of the filming, I kept
telling myself "It's no big deal, it
was just part of the act, don't worry" but I've never been
good at convincing
myself of lies like that. I want to do that again. I know I
shouldn't, but...God...
----
A few days later, Ryan had drunk slightly too much at the
after-show party and Colin had
driven him back home. Ryan was currently sprawled across his bed,
and it didn't seem like
he was going to move in a hurry. After checking that his friend
was okay, Colin was about
to leave, when something caught his eye.
Ryan's diary.
He knew he shouldn't really, but...who in their right mind would
pass up such an opportunity?
Looking over his shoulder to make sure Ryan was still asleep,
Colin carefully picked up the
book and opened it in the middle.
In amongst all the careful records, one in particular drew
Colin's attention. It looked much
more rushed, as if Ryan had been writing so fast to catch up with
his thoughts that legibility
had become an added bonus.
Shaking his head in confusion, Colin put the diary back, and
left. It was only when he was
almost home that Colin made the connection between the date of
the entry and Ryan's words.
Ravenous Boa Constrictor.
...he wouldn't have stopped?
--Ryan's POV--
So we were filming another Whose Line show, and Drew announces
that me and
Colin have won. And, as usual when that happened, we played
Helping Hands.
Something to do with teaching Drew to survive in the wild.
I could feel him breathing. His shirt buttons scraped
against my back every time
he exhaled, his steady breathing made the back of my neck
tingle... I have to stop
thinking about this.
--Colin's POV--
I couldn't really resist. Reading his diary made me think -- what
would I have
done if he hadn't stopped? Just standing that half-inch closer
made a lot of
difference. He looked so, I don't know, distracted after that
game, it made me
realise something. I wouldn't have stopped him, and I kind of
wish Drew hadn't
buzzed. But Ryan has to be the one to start it, I can't exactly
go up to him and
say "By the way, I read your diary and I think you should
know, that Boa
Constrictor thing was as good for me as it was for you", can
I? I don't think
that would go down too well.
----
"C'mon, Ryan, you're late!"
Ryan wandered into rehearsal, not even slightly encouraged to
hurry by Drew's
admonition. "Okay, okay. I'm here now, let's just get on
with it." Ignoring the looks the
others gave him, Ryan sat down.
To be honest, Ryan was a little nervous. He'd spent most of his
time since the last
filming trying not to remember how it felt, with Colin standing
so close behind him. With
very little success. He knew that this and every other rehearsal
brought with it the
possibility of a repeat performance, and he wasn't sure that he'd
be able to hold himself
back if another opportunity presented itself.
The rehearsal progressed as usual, and no-one seemed to have
noticed that Ryan was
a little more tense than usual. And then, Drew decided that it
was time to play 'Party Quirks'.
Ryan was to be the host of this party, so he wandered about the
room, commenting on the
quality of his cheese dip and suchlike.
Doorbell.
Wayne leapt through the door and began running in slow motion.
After a few steps, he
dived onto the stage and waved his arms around.
Doorbell.
"Aah, Greg, have you met Wayne? He seems to think this is a
pool party, but then he is
from Baywatch." One out of three, he thought as Drew pressed
the buzzer.
Not really paying attention to Greg's performance, Colin looked
at his quirk. "You are
trying to seduce the host." What a coincidence.
As Colin walked into the 'party', Ryan started to say something
about Greg but was
silenced as Colin pressed his fingers against his lips.
"Sssh... don't spoil the moment by
bringing Greg into this. You know you're the only one I
want."
Ryan swallowed, hard. It's only a game it's only a game he's only
acting...
He grabbed Colin's wrist and pulled his hand away, allowing him
to speak again. "Greg,"
he managed, "is an undercover estate agent." Drew
buzzed, and at the same moment
Colin twisted his hand out of Ryan's grasp.
Ryan watched, transfixed, as Colin moved slowly towards him. And
then he snapped.
Completely forgetting that Drew, Wayne and Greg were still
watching, Ryan bent down
and kissed Colin. Nothing like their on-screen kisses of before,
this one sent tingles racing
up their spines. They broke apart, gasping as much from shock as
from air deprivation.
"Enjoying that character a bit too much, Colin?" Drew's
voice snapped them out of their
reverie. Ryan turned his head to see Wayne and Greg gaping at
them in shock, and Drew
looking amused. He was surprised to find that he didn't really
care.
Meanwhile, Colin had composed himself enough to reply to Drew.
"Drew, that wasn't
just the character." With that, he pulled Ryan out of the
room by the hand that he had not
yet released, leaving their three friends standing there in
shock.
--Epilogue--
"...Colin?"
"Mm?"
"What made you, um, decide to do that?"
Colin hesitated. Should he confess to reading the diary?
"...the boa constrictor."
Maybe not.
The End.
