Pattern from our August Newsletter

Here's a variation on last month's split ring daisy chain. It still has 5 petals, same stitch counts, but the daisies are joined by a chain. Wind two shuttles, continuous wound as before. Same general directions as the previous month. Do not reverse work (RW) or Switch Shuttles unless the pattern states. Start each ring very close to the previous ring, leave no gaps between rings. Switch Shuttles (SS) means to use the other shuttle when tatting the ring. A Ring (R) is a regular ring, made with one shuttle. Split Rings (SR) use a / to separate the first half of the SR from the second half of the SR.

Two shuttles, continuous wound

R 4 p 5 p 3 p 3 p 5 p 4.
R 4 j 5 p 3 p 3 p 5 p 4.
*R 4 j 5 p 3 p 3 p 5 p 4. RW. SS. (reverse work, switch shuttles)
R 4 j 5 p 3 p 3 p 5 p 4.
SR 4 j 5 p 3/ 4 j 5 p 3. RW.
Chain 3 p 3 p 3 p 3 p 3 p 3. RW.
SR 3 p 5 p 4/3 p 5 p 4.
R 4 j 5 p 3 j (to center p, 4th petal previous daisy) 3 p 5 p 4.

Repeat from * for desired length.

The flowers alternate, as the previous one, did, but the daisies are joined with a chain between split rings. I think it's pretty as it is, but maybe you think it needs more outside edging - It's tatter's choice! When you get a finish you like, write it down and share with us! I'm looking forward to seeing some creative bookmarks!
