West Michigan Lace Group - Designer's Challenge
Part 5 - Celtic Tatting
The second pattern is a Tatter's Challenge. I finally documented the method I used when I made my 'Celtic' bookmark, and added new scans of the bookmark done in multiple colors to aid in construction. I use some advanced techniques here, including split rings and some other methods that I 'invented' for this bookmark. Be sure to read through the entire pattern before you start, I have some suggestions on the third page that make the bookmark easier to assemble.
September Serenade - Celtic Style Snowflake
This month you have a choice of two patterns. The first pattern is a snowflake done in what is called 'Celtic' tatting. The snowflake is tatted in five layers, and interlaced together. This is simple rings and chains, no split rings or advanced techniques. I have included scans of the snowflake as it was being tatted to help you see how it fits together. Perhaps you will want to make some changes and design a 'Celtic' motif of your own.
