Hillfields Sanctuary Announcement
As many of you will be only too aware, Hillfields Animal Sanctuary has for many years now lurched from one financial crisis to another. Lyn Tudor, the owner, toils from early morning to night, 365 days a year in a heroic effort to care for the 300 animals. This constant toil leaves Lyn with no time to raise the desperately needed funds. Various people over the years have found time in their busy lives to help Lyn with fund raising, and thanks to their efforts the sanctuary has just about survived. It is clear that now a strategy for the future must be developed. In an effort to coordinate the fund raising, a small committee has been formed. We plan to do many things in the future when funds allow, but for now we just hope to help with the incredible struggle Lyn faces every day just to keep the animals alive.

On previous Open Days members of the paying public have commented that they were disappointed not to be able to see the animals close at hand. We now have plans and the insurance cover to start having ‘total’ Open Days. We plan to have an Open Sunday at least once a month, April to October.

WE HAVE ONE PLANNED FOR SUNDAY, 8TH OCTOBER 2006

We are now compiling a list of people who would act as advisers on the sanctuary site. This would simply entail keeping an eye on the public whilst they visited the animals - possibly telling interested people about the cruelty particular animals had suffered. We hope to have by each enclosure information boards detailing the horrific conditions animals experience in factory farming / intensive livestock breeding / the dairy industry / markets and so on. Also people are needed to help on the Animal Adoption Stall. We plan to sell to the public small bags of animal feed for 50 pence or perhaps a bale of hay for £2.50. We also plan a beverage / snacks stall (totally vegan) and hope to sell promotional merchandise, such as t-shirts, mugs, key rings etc.

Would you help the animals and act as an adviser / general helper on Open Days?  We would hope to ask you to attend only two or three times a year. (But of course you could come as often as you wished!)
