Animal Rights in the news like never before!!

Over the past 2-3 weeks or so there has been a total media frenzy regarding the animal rights movement. Literally dozens of TV & radio news and current affairs programmes have featured `scientists`, government ministers and lab workers moaning about protesters and the effect we are having on the pharmaceutical/vivisection industries in this country!! Probably hundreds of newspaper articles blaming animal rights `fanatics, extremists and terrorists` for costing the drugs industry millions if not billions of pounds and how the government is going to crack down on protesters!!

This amount of media coverage is totally unprecedented. Never before have big businesses that abuse animals(or profit from it) fought so hard to stop animal rights campaigns in their tracks! And never before has the vivisection industry been a major talking point for so many millions of people across this country! More and more people are starting to question the validity of animal experiments and the government knows that if they don`t take action, this country will lose the big pharmaceutical companies who are already threatening to move abroad!! This is the reason they are cracking down so much on protesters, it`s all about the profit, greed and power of huge multinationals, who the government will protect at all costs!

Our freedoms and right to protest will be taken away even more if the proposed new laws are ever introduced. The right to protest outside any company that is involved in animal abuse may be put in jeopardy. It`s hardly surprising that these companies don`t want their business dealings exposed to the wider public, they are well aware that their profits may be effected simply because the general public and other firms will boycott them! Now is not the time to sit back and wait for the government to take away our rights to speak out on the animals behalf. Now is the time to shout even louder and make this government realise that no matter what laws are brought in, we will never stop campaigning against animal imprisonment and torture.
